NUFC Transfer Rumours

Does it? We're losing a player who had limited minutes all season. We're a few weeks away from having a fully fit squad with the exception of Lascelles. We're in good form, in all competitions and vying for European football.

Man City were struggling, someone like Marmoush will give them new ideas and a new threat for opponents to deal with

Sometimes to keep the team pushing getting a new body in is a sign to show the team you keep improving and investing your bodies and efforts and we’ll keep investing in improving the team to achieve our goals

Wait................what...........

So what you're telling me is that all these Twatter accounts and journo's that have linked us with players, they're actually just making it all up ?

And that all of the subsequent statistical analysis of those linked players from the N-O Scouting Squadron, it was just a massive waste of time ?

We quite literally tried with the CB they bought? They'll purchase when they see fit at the right value. Unlike City we can't afford mistakes or overpaying. Summer often presents the best value.

The only thing more tedious than a window where we don’t sign anyone is wading through the dozens of posts of people saying “I can’t believe we’re not signing anyone!” despite the reasons for us not signing anyone being repeatedly explained.

It’s a level of tedium that will only then be beaten by the same people’s furious posts when we’re having to flog our players in June to comply with the PSR regulations we breached by signing someone in January.

Until we start selling players for decent money, almost every transfer window will be like this, especially January. There's only so much you can do with commercial deals etc. The reason the likes of Chelsea can spunk money all over the shop is because of how good they've been at selling down the years.

It's a difficult situation as the only players in our squad with genuine value are the ones we need on the pitch.

Unlike other lack of transfer times, this one feels different.

It's not like we won't spend, it's because we can't, due to scandalous rules in place to protect a gang of cunts.

We can only hope the whole thing crashes and burns, and we're finally free of the scummy shite that is holding us back.

There's also some talk that we'd rather wait till the summer and possible Champions League qualification, as that will then allow us to target/attract better players.

The one thing I don’t understand is the media saying we can’t spend this month without risking breaching PSR. However they then say we would be in a position to take advantage of clubs struggling before the June PSR deadline. Aren’t the two contradictory?

None of them have a scooby about anything

We're obviously just getting a headstart in clearing the decks for the summer as much as we can. Moving players on is hard, we've seen that for years. When you get interest in long term deadwood you want to upgrade sometimes you've got to just move them on while it's there if you can - even if it leaves you short.

We have no Europe and one game a week for the rest of the season - this is the one time you can gamble on a smaller squad for a bit. It's a gamble no doubt, but I do get it.

If you've got breathing space you can strike early and proactively in the summer to fill the gaps you've already made. Perhaps take advantage of any PSR firesales if they happen like last summer. Conversely if we've still got players we need to shift, it could take all summer until players are back from their holidays etc, and leave us with little flexibility.

The one caveat I would give to the above is we have two free loan spots, and getting some bodies in as temporary cover to any outgoing moves would be a good way to mitigate for those sales until the summer. It's not something we ever seem to explore though.

Ignoring whatever is actually happening with us: as I understand it, amortisation (and wages obviously) are judged on a daily basis.

So if you buy a player who would cost you £12m a year in PSR, for the first year they'll only cost you £12m if you buy them on day one of that year. Sign them half way through instead and they'll cost £6m, sign them with one month to go and they'll cost £1m.

So a small amount of PSR budget can go a long way in May/June if another club is gasping for cash. Which means there's a lot to be said for keeping some powder dry for that time of the year.

We aren't signing anyone this window lads.

I mean, Howe pretty much said it even before the window opened. The priority was on keeping the players we've got. The decent ones I assume.

Exactly what I've been saying...so many contradicting reports about where we are no-one actually seems to know
