If they make the Champions league around £50 million release clause.

If they fail to make it though around £40 million release clause.

Works out better for us if they don't get CL so we can get him for £40m

Cheaper  than Mbeumo, but not Premier League proven. Might be worth the risk for the  lower price?

Also, the rumour is he's already told teammates he's leaving the club this summer.

Arsenal are heavily linked as an alternate signing to Nico Williams.

Doesn’t matter if deal structured correctly apparently. Can buy in June and stick it into July. Just cant do vice versa.

Not long to go before any early off the bat incomings!

This might be a silly question but why don’t they just keep it open the whole time?

FIFA have a specific amount of games a federation can permit transfers over a year period, something like 92 days or something.

Yeah sorry, that was meant to be days. This explains it:

Quote

FIFA approved a proposal in October to give teams participating in the Club World Cup an additional window between June 1 and June 10 so they could sign players ahead of the tournament.

For instance, Real Madrid want to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in time to play at the Club World Cup, but his contract at Liverpool expires on June 30. This gives them the chance to negotiate with Liverpool.

But why does the Premier League have a six-day closure of the window in between?

The 2024/25 handbook says on page 267 that the summer window has to open "at midnight on the date 12 weeks prior to the date on which it is to conclude".

League rules say the summer window can be a maximum of 12 weeks and the winter window a maximum of four weeks.

This early window is considered an exceptional registration period - and is separate to the above guidelines.

Pretty sure I heard that Gittens was going to Chelsea and it was already done. Plus isn't he more of a right footed left winger?

Who has Martinez been linked to? Unless they’re selling to Saudi because they really are FFP/Wages to turnover fucked.

I think it's really difficult to improve on Pope the way Pope initially improved on Dubs.

He came in and was imperious until the red card. Improved us in every way and his on the ball work was less noticeable.

When he got injured we felt a massive backslide in composure in defence. A marked decline in dealing with crosses and shot stopping but it became more noticeable that Dubs was better on the ball.

Pope skills + distribution is an elite GK

Don’t think this is true at all. Pope is a good goalkeeper, as is Dubs, but they both have flaws and Pope’s only one isn’t his distribution. Hit him low and hard and he’s unlikely to get down in time for instance. Neither is neat world class in the way Tonali and Isak are, or even very good PL players like Bruno, Gordon, etc. I think we can improve in what is a vital position, and if there is an opportunity to do so at a relatively small fee, we definitely should!
