When we were being linked with Delap, I remember one of the articles mentioned that Howe had told him the plan was to play them together in a different formation, which I was surprised by, and didn't know whether to believe it not.

Oddly enough we keep getting linked with strikers that would be looking to start.

Out of interest where did you read that about Pedro?

Going back to the way he set up at Bournemouth?

Joao Pedro feels very underwhelming, especially if we are supposed to blow a significant part of the budget on him.

I guess at this stage we lack the detail to know how good or bad it may be. The willock thing for 25m may be real and  may soften a 60 or 70m outlay. A formation change possible? It may be the prime target was RW for 60 but if he's off to Manchester then the next one down may be at 30 or 40m meaning more money elsewhere.

Right now knowing he's better than Wilson and current Osula is a good thing however knowing we could and nearly had him for 30m it's another prem proven premium we may regret when we have a fair few areas to cover.

How would we feel about Madueke?

Question marks about attitude and consistency but I think he'd be a good fit. £30m is a good price as well and probably significantly cheaper than what Elanga would go for.

That's what I'm wondering.

I wonder if they may like the striker options available more than they do the winger options, and might be considering it.

Would then mean Joelinton likely playing wide in some capacity.

Not that you will know the answer to this but just to add to the mix about how that would work? It is a 50plus game season playing 2 up top doesn't give much rotation options unless Barnes or Gordon play as a 10 more centrally? Or we do keep Wilson for the mix.

Everyone is freaking out way too early. It's barely June. There hasn't been a lot of movement and we tend to work in the shadows, so there's no need to overreact at this stage.

I don't think we should freak out even if in mini window we sign no one. However playing devil's advocate if we had thrown out hats into 2 or 3 that have now seemingly signed for other teams where they the top targets? Where they the players Howe alluded to in need to act quickly on? If so could be seen as bad as you now working your way down the target list.

Howe goes on about small pool of players albeit not this window specially so where does it leave us? Buying after those have spent may lead to less competition from teams who already spunked their loads but we know it doesn't work that way.

Yeah, not 100% certain, but perhaps they mix in one striker lineups at times.

And also make use of Osula and Wilson at times too.

I like the idea of being able to go    4-2-3-1, or 4-4-2 when Howe thinks it would be appropriate, would make us a lot predictable as well, especially considering Howe can coach a good 5 at the back performance

Though if we went with Bruno and Sandro in a 2 man midfield, we'd deffo need the pace at RCB so we can push our defensive line higher, meaning less space for them 2 to defend on their own

Think it was Douglas who said it when talking about our striker targets.

It’s not many times it has happened, but we have played with Isak/Wilson together. Sure it was the Fulham game where we ended up winning 1-0. We looked pretty good from what I remember. Certain games Isak could definitely do with a hand up there.

Got to remember as we get better players we can be more flexible and have more options. We can stop being a 433 team and alter it on a game by game basis. The way we ended the season I wouldn't be comfortable in saying we are a back 3, 4 or 5 team. Same can happen throughout the team.

2nd half away at Brentford I think.

Eddie wants us to move early, and the club needs to move early to secure primary targets.  Agreed it's only the 3rd but other clubs have started doing business.
