The Monaco winger is presumably Akliouche.

Makes sense. Very vanilla and can’t see us going for Prestianni, far too much of a gamble and, at 5ft5 doesn’t exactly fit the Howe athletic profile.

I don’t want Rashford, but players seem to be leaving them and excelling now compared to what they’ve been doing there. A bit different to the past where players were dropping down. I’m not sure they have many players you’d actually want though. Mainoo? Garnacho might improve somewhere.

I would bracket Prestianni as the same kind of transfer as Minteh. Seen as someone with big potential but nowhere near the finished article. Tonnes of raw ability though. I first heard his name mentioned last summer, and it seems like we’ve watched him a few more times since and do like him. Whether that turns into a bid, I don’t know.

 

In terms of it being “vanilla”, I’m positive that there’ll be a lot more going on that we / this source doesn’t know about too. This is just what I’ve heard that has some legs to it.

This lads plays for Benfica? If so I imagine it will be a watching brief only. I don't imagine us spending significant sums on moonshots.

Kudus is overrated, Elanga is effective. Haven't seen enough of the Monaco right winger. The thought of spending £50-60M on Kudus/Elanga is still nuts to me personally. Our scouting network is lazy if we're just targeting EPL experience.

Wouldn't be surprised if the only right-winger we get is someone like that TBH. Feels like a very coveted position without a great deal of value for money knocking around. We only want to commit major funds to sure things, which is why I can't see us spending on the likes of Semenyo for example.

I did literally just say that we’ll almost certainly be targeting others too (the person I got the info from will only know so much), and in my post, 2 out of the 5 players I mentioned don’t have EPL experience.

Ah, so it wasn't a wind up? I'm just confused as to how this "lazy" "non-exiting" scouting network found Isak, Bruno, Tonali, Minteh, Osula, Cordero, Shahar, Salia etc etc if they only "target EPL experience"??

 

I mean it's a ridiculous conclusion to come to, especially when you've no idea who we're actually scouting and ignore the links to foreign players anyway.

The comment is more in relation to squaring off the club’s constant briefing about the “Saudi Tax” and stated desire to build a squad, with simultaneously shopping heavily in the £60m Harrods league of transfer pools.

 

I back Eddie to get it right with the players he does bring in but I do have a fear that unless we’re *slightly* more creative with squad strengthening, we’re going to run out of puff in December / January again like 23/24 due to spinning the budget wholly on 2-3 players.

 

Plenty of time in the window yet and hopefully they’ll pull some £25m overseas league wonders out the bag to be the next Bruno’s and Big Joe’s.
