Nah. very different landscape now in terms of the staff in place compared to before he came in.

The Paul Mitchell who reportedly went back on Staveley's assurances that Isak would get an improved contract and in doing so contributed to this situation. The Paul Mitchell who stopped us buying James Trafford last season? The Paul Mitchell who by most accounts came in and fucked up the harmony inside the club? That did similar at Monaco. He's the one that's not fit for purpose.

The thing is. He is not here anymore. And we are not getting anyone in. We didnt get anyone last summer or January. Will we blame him next summer also?

Thats not technically true like, we have signed a player in the the position that has been most needed over the past few years.

He's not solely to blame, but the idea that he gets to say what is and isn't fit for purpose is a joke. Our transfer policy was working very well until he arrived.

2 years ago we signed Tonali, Livramento, Hall, Barnes etc. That was the last summer window before he came in and It was working, yes. Since then the transfer windows we've had were overseen by him, or we've had no DoF because he's left at the last minute.

Last summer he said he didnt interrupt the plans, players were targeted before him. 
 

I mean if you ask me havent been good on the market for ages. Tonali and Isak yes,  but they were huge purchases for us.

Mitchell was our DoF working on deals last summer, by his own admission. He apparently promised Howe Guehi then couldn't get it done. It being bad for ages doesn't really line up with the windows and who was running them.

I just dont think this current setup is much better, so like I said, we need to recruit right people there so this doesnt happen again.

If we sell Isak for say £150M where could we go from there?

 

Assuming we had at least £50M before that, we could spend around £200M in total.

 

If that could give us Trafford, Scalvini, Sesko and Wissa it wouldn't look so bad in the end.

 

But that is a lot of buissiness to be done in a short time.

This current setup is because he left at the start of the window, we haven't replaced him yet.

The transfer situation will never resolve itself whilst we have certain people in the room and sadly a manager not yet known to the big names. Ive been absolutely killed for 2 years for the stance that the manager has a big influence on the name coming in, players sign for multiple reasons, the club, the manager, the team, the city and the wage.

 

We cant offer the wages currently, we arent in London and to many big names Eddie is an unknown. We go into most purchases with 3 major strikes against us.

 

Eventually something will tell as this recurring theme isnt an off chance

Do you think benjamin sesko is signing for Eddie Howe before Unai Emery? (not touting for this here but....) or does this change if its Jose Mourinho and Unai Enery?

 

Purely based on a European reputation, not on skillset.

It’s just wages.  We used to target players wanted by AC Milan and Brighton. Now we target players wanted by Chelsea. Thats the difference.  
 

We got Elanga and we might get Wissa because we are paying a good fee and bigger fish aren’t after them.

You and doing a disservice to the intelligence of footballers here. If someone was given an offer here, they would of course know that Howe has achieved considerable progress, taken a team from the edges of the premiership to winning silverware, and at the same time developed players for any next step. Eddie is not unknown at all in professional circles.
