I didn't just get lucky. And with respect, if someone keeps getting rinsed for speaking what turns out to be the truth, they have the right to keep pointing that out. I love this club and want it to succeed as much as the next guy, but shooting down people who see our shortcomings is, at absolute best, counterproductive. That's how we've acted this summer. Last time we were in CL, Tonali was clearly number one target and we executed perfectly. But Tino, Barnes, Hall etc were all identified early doors and brought in. Ashworth did get deals done, well. If we missed out, I would have said, Isak would want out, most of our targets would want to play for CL level clubs and we'd only get players from clubs where we are a clear upgrade - e.g Elanga or Wissa. Incredible work and nothing less from the players and management. The fact that we are going through another summer of in and outs at board room level is a travesty man, how can we effectively navigate a transfer window when we are in a mess from the top down? It reminds me of the last investigator on our film project. He made massive assumptions based on not enough data, except in that case, he turned out to be way off the mark.
