NUFC Transfer Rumours

Why does nee one want to join us? DCL will turn us down next.

We don’t even get bids accepted tbh. Getting as far as players having to turn us down would be progress.

I think its this obsession with bidding a few million lower than the fee they asking for

I'm sure there's some wonderful reason why we just can't get them.

That or we have an incompetent transfer department.

Frankly a month ago was too early to say anything with confidence. Whether you were right or not, it wasn’t really based on enough data because there was limited activity for the most part during the club World Cup. So a lot of us thought this was jumping the gun a bit, and for good reason. Now we are near August and have been knocked back an embarrassing number of times, it does look like serious dog shit.

it would have been reasonable to assume that last summer taught them a good lesson. As of now ant least,  apparently not.

and once again, can we please stop with comments like  “I was killed for saying this”?

We’re like a stubborn man bargaining at the market in Khao Lak, coming back to the same stands a few days between. Except we’ve forgot that we’re on the fancy streets of Paris. At least we have all the money left when we fly home with 0 souvenirs.

We'll end up buying over the odds at the airport duty free on the way home (i.e. bidding 100m on Muniz on Transfer Deadline day)

I would argue there was enough basis to say what I said then. I didn't just get lucky.

And with respect, if someone keeps getting rinsed for speaking what turns out to be the truth, they have the right to keep pointing that out.

I love this club and want it to succeed as much as the next guy, but shooting down people who see our shortcomings is, at absolute best, counterproductive.

The state of our club now (at least as reflected in transfer terms) brings me zero satisfaction.

Yea I know what you are talking about, but with transfers, we are in the dark and don't know exact details. If we pulled the plug on Pedro and changed target to Isak in the last moment, why did we think he would accept to come at us this year? I mean that is kind of rude right?

Not really no

Part of me is going all Matt Le Tissier and thinking maybe there's an PL agreement between everyone to boycott NUFC to deal with the emerging threat of a new superpower

Hence no-one is accepting even good bids of ours

And yet we still insist on shopping in the PL market. You'd have thought maybe they would have got the message by now.

If I didn't know how last year ended up, I would say it actually feels like a strange world where we didn't win a trophy and actually MISSED out on Champions League and Villa got it instead. That's how we've acted this summer.

Last time we were in CL, Tonali was clearly number one target and we executed perfectly. But Tino, Barnes, Hall etc were all identified early doors and brought in. Ashworth did get deals done, well.

If we missed out, I would have said, Isak would want out, most of our targets would want to play for CL level clubs and we'd only get players from clubs where we are a clear upgrade - e.g Elanga or Wissa.

But we bloody got CL AND won a trophy. Why aren't we acting like it?!

After last summers Guehi shit show Howe did an insane job to have us win a trophy and finish 4th again, everyone around us significantly strengthened while we stood still and yet we managed to pull that season off? Incredible work and nothing less from the players and management.

The fact that we are going through another summer of in and outs at board room level is a travesty man, how can we effectively navigate a transfer window when we are in a mess from the top down? Howe must be questioning why hes invested as much as he has.

You mean it isn't rude if something is all done and agreed, then at the last minute your new employer says "oh never mind we got this other guy instead"? And then they come back for you in 2 years?

It was totally jumping the gun what a few on here were saying, man. It reminds me of the last investigator on our film project. He made massive assumptions based on not enough data, except in that case,  he turned out to be way off the mark. That’s one reason why I am pretty careful to not make conclusions early.

Last summer's bottle job was a major red flag. Then the first month of this summer we continued not to move, and also lost our DOF. Probably one or two other things I've forgotten too. There were signs. We can agree to disagree on that.

Our negotiators turn up in over-size shoes, in a tiny car, the doors fall off and they pull hankies out of each other's mouths.

Then they put a bid in that is commensurate with their look

Just been chatting to some bloke in Sgt Peppers. Says he's a journo. He has it on good authority that we're signing Guehi and Trafford today and Isak is signing a 5 year contract on £350,000 a week. Luke I think he said his name was. Already on his 5th Kopperburg mind. Seems sound. Don't shoot the messenger.
