I tell you what, that June PSR window really worked out this year huh? Wonder how much we were banking on getting deals out of that

If they were, we are in big trouble. I've been saying for how many months nothing will happen at that deadline?

Another week melted away with nothing tangible achieved, then.

Can't wait to see what next week brings, I'm sure it'll be a good un.

Might be another reason why Mitchell packed his bags earlier than expected. He might have been the on banking on it only to end up with no options and a load of wasted effort on nothing.

Has a transfer window ever promised so much and delivered so little? Struggling to think of one

Last summer produced nothing obviously but I think we all suspected going in that ongoing PSR issues and missing out on the Champions League would cause problems.

Once we finished last season it was all :bluestar: much better PSR position! :bluestar: Champions League football! :bluestar: Transfer summit! :bluestar: yet here we are, preseason well under way and we're looking like having a weaker squad (and starting XI) than we finished last season with

The only big picture positive is that this summer is undoubtedly highlighting where we need to get better off the pitch. The PIF lot will have loved that trophy this season, and they're seeing first hand what's needed to make sure that isn't an isolated incident.

Yeah, this is partly why overall I'm not in the mental "PIF have checked out" camp or depressed over the direction of the club.

Short term it's a bit of a mess but I don't really doubt that they are already looking at how to get a better structure in place to make us fully capable in the future.

Difficult to tell. We might not be in a strong position like this for a while. Hope it hasnt damaged us too much.

Been a few and Champions League qualifiation seems a theme. Dalglish's downgrading us to the worst we'd been in 5yrs and the summer of Bowyer. In retrospect the summer of Bramble and Viana was worse than useless too
