We are trying to sign targets as if we were a consistent CL team able to pay at the highest levels, but we obviously cannot compete on that front. We are not Manchester City. Had all this happened 20 years ago, we would be them now. But it didn't. Conversely, we are not willing to take a more Brighton-type approach to try to develop players that are a bit more raw, seemingly because we consider ourselves bigger than that, it would appear. So now we're right there in the middle. We lack the vision, the expertise, the humility to try a different approach. And we lack the financial power to succeed weith our current approach.
