We also need to stop it with the if we got x player over the line we would have won the league crack :lol;

Well no, we're trying to assess what the club have done, not just the end result.

We know the end result is bad, that's not worthy of any discussion.

Ive been talking to a Spurs fan this morning and he is really looking forward to the season starting, he mentioned the "project" De Zerbi seems to be trying to put in place is really exiting, especially if they get Tonali, even if they dont, it shows the level of players they  are aiming for.

I couldn't help feeling pretty flat about the coming season.

By "project" he means the £400m or so that they are able to spend to buy their way back up half the league at least.

Spurs are one of the "Big Six" clubs regardless of whether they only avoided relegation two seasons running by the skin of their fingers.

Their spending power dwarfs ours, they will always be able to bounce back just by dint of being part of the cartel.

Be happier with Nusa or Fernandez Pardo than Munoz

My concern with Pardo is he’s another one that seems to like space to run in to. Isn’t he quite expensive as well? I like Nusa but doesn’t he have a bit of a dodgy injury record?

Yea I wonder does this means Liverpool won’t get them now?

I think we found out last year we can't take this as being the case.

These clubs hoard players, they are gluttons and going can never be certain they are finished.

Next player we are probably linked is Said El Mala. If so, it’s very likely we are late with that.

We could just agree fee with Köln and finish personal terms quickly, but we all know we won’t do that. And I’m unsure whether he wants to sign for us.

Jacobs reporting that Liverpool have identified El Mala and Fernandez-Pardo as back-up options in case PSG get Diomande.

As I've been saying. We are all chasing the same players. Intended side affect of the garbage rules.

I don’t think it’s to do with the rules it’s more the PL is so competitive and a step up from other leagues not many players actually improve teams.

It is the rules though. For example a player like Bowen would be a canny pick up for us imo, but we could never do that deal as it would be financial disaster.

This is all because of squad cost and the various financial rules.

Just been talking to someone there about where we are right now with our recruitment pitch and it sounds like a nightmare like.

So we started the project with the pitch being basically 'come here, you're getting in on the ground floor, we're going to compete for the league and the CL in a few years'

Whereas now the pitch is apparently more along the lines of 'look at Gordon, look at Isak, come here and in a few years that could be you going to one of those clubs'

but the problem is, we're pitching that to players who those clubs already want now never mind in a few years, rather than the ones that say Brighton or Bournemouth are after.

Person must have read my post from earlier

Jokes aside, it's about all we can do honestly last summer was really very damaging, in fact scratch that the last 12 months have been really damaging.

We are fishing in the same pond as the big boys, who are always gonna pick someone else who can offer more wages and have a bigger name. Really doesn't help that we take so long to complete deals.

We aren't really fishing in the same pond. They have their own pond which we can't touch, but they keep an eye on the puddle we are fishing in, and come and snatch the tiddlers as well, just in case.

Risk vs reward though, we sat on our hands in January despite needing depth at fullback and we finished 12th. Probably lost out on 12m in league prize money, Europa League prize money, extra revenue from games too.
