Andy Townsend on my stream giving some waffle after his goal that finishing has been the only part of his game that he is missing, ffs that is his strongest bit, what do these jokers get paid for.

Heard that, and it reaffirmed that Townsend is a clueless cunt.

That second goal FFS  no need to put it there. But fuck it, have it in the stanch anyway. Felt very Suarez that finish.

So glad he has taken this opportunity. We’ve not even missed Gordon and Barnes deserves so much credit.

Just a ruthless finisher when he gets those sort of chances.

I have said it since he first signed for us, the way he is so direct is so different to many players.

His second summed him up, I thought he should pass to Isak when he first got the ball, but literally drove forward with amazing directness, in between 2 defenders and that finish, well, unstoppable.

Baffling. I posted about this in the dullard punditry thread, how can you be so wrong. Barnes is literally a winger who specialises in finishing.

Great result for you again. I knew Harvey Barnes would come good given the chance. Wish we still had him at Leicester. Good luck for the rest of the season. Unfortunately we won't be coming to St James park next season.

You'll be back I'm sure. Good luck with next year.

How weak were they there though? Barnes isn’t known for being incredibly physical or super fast and he just ran through them with ease

They were piss poor but Barnes is quicker than many give him credit for. Probably because he is famous for being a one-two merchant rather than taking players on.

Remember in his first few games he was often confused as to whether he should pass or shoot, and ended up making a mess of it. All that insecurity is gone (might have just been as he was settling anyways), and his instincts are mostly on point now.

The final touch before the shot was perfect as well. Reminded me a bit of Ben Arfa.

So so good, left foot touch on the angle then the right foot to straighten it up and take out the covering defenders. Then whips it top bins for the lols.

Loved the bit when he was on the right wing and took a great touch from a wayward pass and then flicked it over the defender winning a foul in the process.

In the Premier League, he has the same amount of goal involvements as Gordon this season.

Barnes: 8 Goals, 3 Assists, 1168 minutes

Gordon: 6 Goals, 5 Assists, 2134 Minutes

the ball sat up at the last second too, it was a very composed finish

Yeah you could see it on the replay. Probably why it ended up top bins when he's normally a low-into-the-corner kinda guy.

Love the direct simplicity of his game, and his efficiency.

Uses the overlapping full back so well, and when he's one on one I trust him most to slot the chance away, with a clean accurate strike and no fuss.

think if they had a DM who hadn’t actually died they’d have been able to get back and put a tackle in but Eriksen might even be slower than Bruno
