Really liked him on the right hand side. When he is out there he has good delivery but he floats a lot more which makes us more unpredictable. I always feel that we are too rigid at times with our wingers so it’s a welcome change

He does well hopefully he can grow into that position next season.

Was very good today I thought.

Love the movement he brings to that right side, and he tends to get more crosses in from there and his delivery is good.

Wouldn't mind him starting there going forward at all either.

Noticeably more fluid in the forward areas today. Ramsey seemed to have some kind of free role. Wolte was deeper at times, then also ahead of Osula at others. Barnes pops up all over.

It is something that has annoyed me quite a bit at times. Always feel like our striker is really isolated. It should be fluid in attack and then rigid in defence.

As you say, much better today!

Feels like a good time to flog him from a commercial standpoint.

I’d happily let him go for the right price tbh but given the sheer volume of dogshit we have out wide and with Gordon chucking the towel in, we’ll likely have to keep him. He’s probably the only ‘keepable’ winger we have now sadly.

It’s a shame though because it would be good business to chop him in now for a small profit given the PSR benefits and the fact he already cannot beat a man. Another years football in his legs will mean we’ll get a much lower fee if we sell him the following year.

Aye ideally you'd want to let go but we've got too much to do in this window as is. I think this is where those 3 windows of no activity really hurt us.

Still can’t understand why he seems

to be first on the chopping block for Howe but I imagine we’ll sell at that price.

I don’t think he is at all tbh. Just a media report of potential interest.

At the same time, the thought of starting off the transfer windows with our only wingers being Elanga and Murphy is the stuff of absolute nightmares.

Yeah, insane levels of incomings needed if we sell Barnes. A winger for each side at least, and at least one forward. At least one or two CMs. GK. Fullbacks for both sides, maybe a backup CB. Could be looking at 8+ players.

I mean, I guess we need most of those even if we don’t sell Barnes

Last summers business fucking us over now in shifting someone along for sound commercial reasons too. The impact feels never ending.

Absolutely, all of the issues aside hubris was probably one of the biggest issues last summer.

Two years left on his contract. Good time to sell. Obviously him and Gordon leaving in the same window isn’t ideal, but hopefully we’re well prepared for this and can replace him well.

Cannot be getting rid of one of your most productive game winning players at a time when we need so many new players to settle in.

I could honestly see it been a relegation season should we do that.

Unfortunately that's the only hard nosed way of looking at it. We have to look at our growth model, and the only way of doing it is by selling well.

Don't blame the players or the club for this. The directive comes from how the SCR has been implemented.

I don't want him to leave. No guarantee Gordon's replacement hits the ground running and Barnes will easily hit 20 G/A next season.

Cashing in on him is mental

I like Barnes to be fair, would be disappointed if he left, he's one of our current players who you expect an end result from when in a goal-scoring opportunity and we lack those currently.

That'd be a tough one to take. Ideally we keep him as if we're looking overseas for a cheaper Gordon replacement, we're likely going to need him to start a fair few games while he settles.
