Massive conundrum this. Thing about Barnes is that it's not just his output we'd miss, it's his mentality. Alongside Bruno, he's the only player we have with the bravery and quality to grab a game by the scruff of its neck. He lives for those moments and the rest of the team is shit scared of them in the main.

And the only one with a bit of quality to score when we need a goal

If he gets sold who exactly scores our goals?

Do you think Wissa would pitch in with a few ? So long as its not to much trouble like.

He'd be perfect for Villa like. Right up Emery's "shoot on sight" street.

MUGS, Andy.

He’s a goal guarantor but we likely can’t be picky if the right offer comes in. 28 years old with 2 years left on the contract.

Barnes gets shit because he is our best attacker in terms of end product. The problem is he should never be in that situation. There are 210m worth of attackers that I have less faith in creating a goal on our team.

He's always been a finisher though. Never was going to create. Selling him would be catastrophic imo. But he's been treated like shit, so if I was him I'd be off asap.

Harvey Barnes feels like a simple case of him being a good player but not good for us.

As others have said; he's a finisher not a creator. Looking at his numbers he tends to float between 5-9 league goals a season. I'd be open to selling him for that reason. We really need a forward that can break into the double figure bracket and I don't think that's ever going to be him.

Scored 16 last season - for us …

All this stuff about him not being a creator, he laid on a goal for Woltemade in his last home match and made one of the assists of our season for Bruno at West Ham before the cup final to name but two. He’s reasonably creative like, he just doesn’t Sant Maximin his way past full backs which is a cardinal sin around here.

I hope he stays. He's a capable player with 2 or 3 top level seasons left. We can't be selling both him and Gordon in the same window. I think Gordon wants to leave so let him go as he'd go into an Israt style sulk.

I wonder if he regrets the Scotland offer? He could have very well missed out on his last chance at playing in a World Cup.

Barnes is third behind Bruno and Tonali in assists I think (all comp) so he is capable. There are probably stats showing him not being involved so much, but he can run past players and he can pick out a pass.

We have to learn to be ruthless sellers. Ask yourself, will Barnes have a better season than this one for the rest of his career? No. Therefore, sell. If £38m is on offer, snap their hands off!

He's had consistent numbers for 6-7 years? If Gordon was staying then I'd take it possibly.

Otherwise, there's a fair chance we're needing two GKs, two RBs, two LWs before we even start.

Bit pointless if we're a crap buyer once we bank the profit and Andy Howe will make sure we fuck that up the rotten nepo prick.

Some players value is what they add on the pitch, not their PSR book value and it's okay to not be a constant revolving door, which brings it's own set of problems in the age financial pish. See Joelinton or Dan Burn as other examples of when keeping them works.

In saying that, 38 mill is a sell for me Jeff.

How about we sell Elanga and keep Barnes, especially if we also sell Gordon

Because for the amount we'd get for Elanga, we'd actually probably have less to spend after selling him under SCR rules.

This is like selling your striker because he's 30, I don't think we would do that we don't have many players that score goals in the team so getting rid of our top goalscorer seems crackers after the season we've had.
