Harvey Barnes

specifically this and Botman situation seem very strange and doesnt feel like normal injury stories you hear in football.

Definitely need a massive investigation into what can be done to limit injuries and improve training/recovery methods to prevent this happening again in future seasons, and invest correctly to rectify.

Howe saying he might still need an operation as well.

This is what he actually said "It's the same now with Harvey Barnes, he won't need an operation but we are waiting to see if he comes back or not."

Nevermind :( He also said "It’s a setback to a degree. Where he’s felt pain in his foot again. Hopefully it’s not a permanent setback and he won’t need an operation. There’s still a chance that might happen.”

Apologies @ponsaelius

If what you’re saying is accurate why are we the team who seems to be only facing these issues? Our injury reoccurrence rate is astonishing.

maybe other clubs take a surgery first approach knowing a reoccurrence after physio treatment is an absolute disaster.

It is absolutely 100% true. The source on the Botman stuff is the horses mouth. And the source for the physio info is my brother-in-law, who is a sports physio.

Is our injury re-occurence rate really astonishing? Willock this season? Isak last season?

Other than that, what exactly has re-occured? Murphy's shoulder doesn't count because that is and always has been a major possibility with shoulder dislocations. You hope it won't happen again but there's every chance it will. It's a ballache of an operation to recover from so you try to avoid it.

Some players have had setbacks, yes, but that is part and parcel of football injuries... always has been.

They’ve been listed already in the thread, we have no players and those players we get back are injured again shortly after as witnessed with several players.

so the question is why is this happening and what can be done to address it in the future? We simply can’t afford such situations to occur.

Isak and Willock. That's all right?

Targett got injured and right away, Botman touched some grass and has seemingly made it worst same with Barnes.

We are clearly doing something wrong on this area and we have to address it.

Targett got injured with a freak groin injury that was completely unrelated to his previous one.

Botman, last I heard, hasn't had any setback. They're just taking it really slow to hopefully avoid an 8-9 month operation layoff.

Now's probably not the right time to tell you all that Elliot Anderson won't be back until February at the earliest. His broken bone in his back isn't healing up as quickly as they'd hoped. Initial specialist assessment was 8 weeks, but it's been 7 and it's nowhere near healed.

Again, that's not OUR medical department. That's specialists advising on the best course of action. We don't have a great deal of control over how quickly a bone heals.

December could well be a brutal month results wise based on all this news.

Once this injury crisis hit this was always going to be the case. It’s been a brutal season and it’s only mid December.

We have to take the lessons from this though, I don’t think we can afford another instance of this.

looks like Targett's current one is hammy and his prior one was achilles

just typical of the current luck that he recovers from long term injury, is on the bench for a bit, as soon as we need him he's immediately crocked again for a few months

can see why people are asking questions about the medical team, I think that's just a natural reaction as it's hard for most people to get their heads round us consistently having 11 of the squad out injured
