If he wasn't in the England squad he'd have been with the U21's, so from our perspective it makes no difference tbh.

Would prefer him in neither from a club perspective

Totally get this, however I do enjoy the prestige of having internationals in the squad and if they are capped whilst playing for us I am even more joyous.

I mean I was being somewhat tongue in cheek. If we don't have international players we're a fairly shite side...you'd think

Class. Reckon Howe deserves credit for how he's handled him, especially given all the conspiracy theories over the last year.

There goes Eddie Howe, I must remember to thank him.

with our problems at LB.

I did laugh at the Euros when we had Trippier at left back, I said out loud at the time that there were 4 English players just at Newcastle I'd have at left back for Newcastle ahead of Trippier (Hall, Targett, Burn and even Livramento who'd played well there), so it baffled me completely that there was nobody better in the rest of the country. Trippier's a great right back, but he's always looked pretty lost and ineffective on the other side where his relative lack of pace means he has to cut inside all the time and it completely nullifies him.

Delighted for Hall, hope he plays and plays well.

Looking at the other defenders that were selected there's a good chance he plays a full 90 minutes in one of the games.

Rico Lewis won't be getting in at RB ahead of TAA or Walker so you'd imagine he's there to play LB.  Colwill could play there but considering the lack of CB options with Stones out I can't see it.

They are just different types. Tino is more Reece James. Hall is more Luke Shaw.

Power and pace. Composure and passing.

Reece James is (was?) all those when fit tbf.

Reece James is a complete all round player but unfortunately his biggest weakness is also his availability.

Well done Lewis! Wouldn't have guessed it based on the first few games of the season but deserves it for sure.

It’s like saying Paul Pogba was power and pace. Probably worse, James was at least a consistent performer.

It’s a shame for him how his career so far has been ruined by injuries. He’s pretty much the perfect RB and imo one of the most talented footballers England has produced in some time. Like hand picking the best attributes from Trippier, TAA and Walker and combining them to form one ultimate RB.

Hey kids, look what happens when you leave Chelsea to come and play first team football at Newcastle...

To be fair a while back I’d imagine Chelsea fans were thinking Reece James and Ben Chilwell were going to be England's full back pairing for the next decade too.

I once thought a good strategy for a PL club would be to sign all the best non-internationals. But then I realised if they did well for you they’d get called up anyway

And then God gave him cheesestring knee ligaments as banter.

Was Hall at Chelsea with Thomas Tuchel ?

Would’ve been yeh but not a first team member.  Think it was Alonso and Chilwell.
