I think he'll go back to Chelsea, be completely forgotten about, and only remembered when he's playing for Shrewbury when we draw them in a cup in a few years

Well, this turned out to not be the case.

Hall is improving game by game. He's so technically gifted and I just love the confidence he has to play the ball out in tight situations. Having gifted players in most positions is breeding a new confidence in players like Hall.

Did not expect this when he was first breaking through at Chelsea or last season, this guy's already playing like one of the world's best fullbacks, love his style of play and technical ability.

I didn't expect this but he did look class IMO, just the kind of young player we should've been snapping up when a club with more big signings neglects them.

Called it before the season started that he would be an England regular before the end of the season, but he's now surpassing even that with being probably the best LB in the league. Just love watching him play, he looks so assured in everything he does, both defending and attacking.

Never doubted him either and couldn't believe the signing, but TBH I never thought he would this good this quickly. It's borderline unbelievable for someone his age.

Knew absolutely nowt about him when we signed him. Did start to wonder last season when he couldn't get a game whether Howe fancied him or not, but fuck me has he played a blinder here making him into one of the best Lbs in the league.

We've also been fairly starved with quality LBs during our time supporting us, Jose being the obvious best one for the last 20 years, Hall will most likely surpass him very soon

Yeah, same with CMs I would say. Having the players now is how I know that we're a proper club again.

I was never worried about him long-term but it's so pleasing that he got the breakthrough this season and he's taken the chance so well. To see him and Gordon lining up for England regularly will be class.

He's so good. Nervous as I can get and even in a situation like a semi I realised tonight that I'm becomming confident with him taking touches and looking to play out or beat a man where to me the situation looks like 'just bloot it'.

The way he swivels with that low centre of gravity and just keeps the ball everytime is a wonderful thing to watch.

Looks so strong now aswell. Deserves a rest as played so much football but lad is a really star. Player of the season so far for consistency atleast.

Yeah but the rate of improvement is staggering.

Defensively aye. He’s locked into the right mentality quickly. Other players never get that mentality.

But his previous minutes were so restricted at such a young age in a new club. And it was clear from Chelsea days he was a proper baller. And he didn’t even show that.

I always felt people were drawing too many big conclusions last season. Most of which he dispelled by the end of the season anyway.  It was literally 2-3 bad games some of which were 45 minutes.

I haven't written much post-Arsenal, and I watched the game without having the match thread open. But this is the one player I want to write about now.

He actually looked a level above Arsenal, all of them. I'm not exaggerating. His calmness on the ball, he moves with efficiency and without any loss of energy doing things unnecessarily. The perfect passes, the ball retention, the striking. He's ALWAYS running beyond Gordon. He's not afraid to ball carry in the opponent's half. I think he was the best player on the pitch, his quality for me is above everyone in our team and Arsenal's. Everyone.

If anyone has a safety net in this team it's Dan Burn, because Lewis Hall is next to him. If Dan's under pressure, he knows every single time he can knock it to Hall, any pass will do, and Hall will not lose it. 9 times out of 10 Hall will find a player in black and white, and when he can't, he doesn't lose it, he lumps it which is what you have to do. Decision making is absolutely unreal for a lad of his age.

He might not have had the most impactful game, but in raw ability, I believe he's our best player. He might not be as unpredictable, but his first touch and decisions are on another level to even Isak. Isak can do things that Hall can't at the moment purely from experience and the position he plays, like dragging defenders around with his movement and the snap shots. Isak can make mistakes, can miss the target and lose the ball and it's forgotten 5 minutes later if he scores. If Hall loses the ball or makes a mistake we concede, the stakes are far higher. He's 20, good lord.

I want to bookmark this post because I think I might come back to this post in a couple of years when he's genuinely considered the best LB in the world.

Might be talking complete nonsense here.  But I wonder if there is any correlation with him being a good cricketer and how calm he is on the pitch?  As you have to be pretty assured, calm and patient a lot of the time playing cricket.  He does just seem to have an elite mentality, so vice versa, really.

Rarely looks troubled and flustered, even when he is under pressure and in a difficult spot, like HawK kind of alludes to above.  I thought he got a hospital pass from Burn quite a few times last night.  But he didn't seem arsed.

This was the stand-out thing for me last night. They pressed the fuck out of BDB whenever the opportunity presented, and some of his passes into Hall were less than ideal.

He's gotta be picking up PFA young player of the season.

He's easily ours, with Isak likely player of the season.

Is Isak continues at this pace, I'd say he has a great chance.  But Salah is putting up some freakish numbers.  So I'd say he's clear favourite, without looking.

All people talk about right now is Isak, understand there's still a way to go yet.

It's even more ridiculous how good he was last night considering I felt others hung him out to dry a fair few times tbh, not maliciously but they've probably gotten so used to him being a Trippier-like outlet.

He'd get the ball with no passing options and get crowded out. It led to a couple of inevitable dispossesions but the amount of times he managed to get away with it was so impressive.

Says it all that in a team with players like Isak, Bruno Tonali he's my favourite. I love him.
