There's nothing like a derby day and for it to be a cup game, gives it a bit extra. Last time we pulled them in any cup was I think 78-79 (League Cup) - was only 5 then, so it will be a new experience for me as it will many others. :) Build up to this one will be incredible - just sit back and enjoy the ride until derby day! :)

Eddie will have to go at this one full tilt - no resting players, etc.

Will literally be portrayed as a battle of good vs evil on wearyside

It will be a complete cringe fest on their part.

If their concern for human right abuses were sincere, I would be fine with it, but it's nothing other than jealousy.

Hopefully Howe will learn the lesson from Pardew in overhyping the fixture and losing the psychological battle before we've even stepped into the pitch. Of course it's massive to us fans but the players need to go into it like it's any other big game.

The likes of Bruno and Isak will be well up for this. Gordon knows all about derbies and then you’ve got our local lads. Fully confident we’ll be fully switched on for this and not freeze like in past years.. Their lot will be radged up so no doubt plenty horrific tackles and trying to wind the like of Joelinton and Bruno up. If we just play our game we’ll wipe the floor with them. They’ll what to turn it into a scrap but we’re too physically strong for that. The derbies under Pardew we always played the occasion and got involved in the emotion which took as away form our game. We’re too well drilled under Howe for that. Only thing is zero pressure on them.

Said something similar below. The likes of Longstaff and Burn will make the lads aware of how we ballsed it up in previous years too.

Lewis Miley was 10 years old last time we played them. Kinda weird to think that there will be a lot of young fans who's never seen the tyne-wear derby

Can't wait for this. Been buzzing ever since it was announced.

And (I think) five when we last beat them!

We have Liverpool (a) on Monday, this tie Saturday/Sunday then Man City at home the following Saturday. No European fixtures until February.

No reason not to play a full strength XI.

Whatever that will look like that week... ?
