We definitely should have enough for them, but given they'll be frothing at the mouths, barking at our players from minute one, we need to be very careful.

Are we playing against dogs with rabies?

If you are talking about turning up at their ground early then I suppose we did (I have never been into football violence by the way, just having a beer on away trips). It was a piece of piss compared to Boro. Sunderland you could have a drink in some of the pubs or on the beach without any bother.  Boro it was like the whole town were waiting for you.

Not just turning up early but being in their ends. Basically taking over.

I'm not particularly confident for this one like. I'm not being a "realist" or looking to say "I told you so".

Under normal circumstances I'd be pretty sure of victory, but given the injuries, fatigue and confidence of the squad I'm just not feeling it. That's not to say we can't or won't win, I really hope we do and I'll be fully behind the lads.

I think we’re ready now. There was enough in the Liverpool game to indicate seeds of recovery. Personally I’d love to be there, preferably amongst our supporters, having experienced the opposite away to them on three occasions it is no where near as much fun as being amongst our lot.

Yep. It is funny that since police escorts became a thing they act up and play the hard man on RTG. Before that they didn't want to know. We literally used to go down Roker for a pint in the morning and not a word was said.

Given the state of their town it's not that surprising they always felt a bit angry.

Same. Sticking it on record, check score and decide whether I want to watch it back.

They had a class nightclub in the 90s to be fair. Think it was called the Sugar Shack. Apart from that not much :D

I've never been to Sunderland on a supporters bus. Either car,van or train.

Done car, train, metro, supporters bus and once on the free buses from the club. I remember meeting lads in the Three Bulls at 9am on the morning of the game and some of us were going by Metro and some were using the official club buses so we'd go our separate ways beforehand, that's how I know they were all run together and you took your choice depending on what suited you the most.

Don’t recall the bubble bus AND bubble metro operations running in conjunction. Yes you could go by metro but not that I recall especially laid on ones that didn’t stop. I recall them coming in when they stopped the bubble buses but will take your word for it…

Ive been to every away derby since 1992 expect when ill and missed the first one we lost in a while down there (Keane/SA). First few just made own way including the one when away fans were banned so was in home end (dropped at ground each time in car) then the bubble buses came in to allow away fans then they were replaced by bubble metro/trains is how I remember it ??‍♂️

Was a bit nonchalant about this not long ago but now honestly viewing it as a huge game (despite that lot being in a sad total non relevant place in previous years and most likely for years to come)

The lads really need some confidence back and for both Eddie and every other level headed Newcastle fan out there it is for the best we win this because the toxicity will be beyond poison if we don't.

Probably because the metro would've been cancelled.

There was never a bubble trip. You could go on the club run buses if you wished or you could travel by rail or with your usual supporters bus. Keith Barrett ran a bus to every Derby up until he was hit with the banning order in 2009. The Metro or Northern Rail train was also always an option as well. I only went on the club run buses once and I didn't enjoy my day as much so didn't to it again.

I see they're trying to go down the whole celtic rangers craic of our club being dead

Saudi army etc etc

It might wash if they had 20 thousand empty seats like every other week but they managed to sell out..why?

Cos they've only come to see Newcastle as always

I am spectacularly colourblind and I fucking hated trying to tell red and white, and black and white, stripes apart. Solid colour will be easier I reckon

Watching us play them in the mid-00's on a questionable 640x480 grainy stream was nearly impossible. It's easier in 55" HD but not by much.

You’re not understanding what I’m saying by bubble. When the club were putting buses on they weren’t putting special metros or trains. They were just normal commuter journeys where fans could mix. Hence encouraged to take the free return buses. When the club stopped them they put on NUFC only metros and trains that were non stop practically to the ground.

Even when the club were running buses you'd have 2 Metros (times published in advance) that you could use that would go straight through to Sunderland non stop. You were also free to use any other Metro. These ran at the same time as the club run buses and I'm going back 20 years here.

Like I say ill take your word for it but don’t recall any free buses for the last several derbies and any non stop metros pre 00’s
