My problem with him last year was that he was absolutely dreadful at crosses. Haven't seen him play this year but hope he's bulked up a bit and improved otherwise it's a serious weakness

It’s still a big weakness in the games I’ve watched him this season (albeit only 4/5 games).

I've not watched enough to have an opinion on him but the general consensus as to his weaknesses doesn't particularly excite me tbh.

Time to pit my faith in the club it we do sign him, considering their hit rate in identifying quality players. The last 'keeper we snatched from them didn't exactly set most people's pulses rating either.

I'd much rather Kelleher or someone else.

I read Trafford is 6'6, but whenever I've seen him, he doesn't look that tall. Like everyone is saying, he's terrible on crosses. Always seems to be looking to punch the ball rather than catch it.

I think there's more than enough there that if we do sign him the usual improvement Howe and his team are able to get out of players should turn him into a top level keeper.

In Howe we trust.

None of our keepers have improved under Howe. Howe improving outfield players will be very different to a GK, imo. I don't rate our GK coaching setup tbh.

He needed another 12 months at least making mistakes / learning. I was keen on signing him and loaning back for a season because of that. Signing him in Jan to get ahead of others is still fine as he’s had more time playing as a regular.

I'd actually disagree, I think Pope showed a lot of improvement over the season that we finished 4th. Main thing that's causing his decline now is his body seems to be starting to break down.

Trafford is a young keeper who has a lot of natural improvement ahead that comes with experience. Combined with Howes track record of improving players could well see him become a beast over the next few years.

With our PSR situation we aren't going to go out and sign some 40m keeper put them on the wages they'd want in the next 12-18 months. It's going to be someone like Trafford. Fee around 20m tops, wages likely won't be much more than Dubravka to begin with. He will grow with the club. Same way the likes of Hall and Tino are.

I think it was more down to how under rated Pope was with our fanbase than him actually improving.

I'm not against him, btw, i'm happy for us to do this deal and clear out all our keepers. I think Pope has no confidence in his body, which makes him hesitate now.

How is his kicking, distribution, on the ball?

Kicking and distribution is good - probs need to command his box a bit more

Nothing that can’t be coached - all the raw ingredients are there
