Hope his price hasn't gone up too much based on his performance this season after we were quoted about 20m last summer [emoji38]

Pretty sure it has.

If we are actively looking to sign him. Then we’ll be hoping they don’t get promoted. As I’d imagine his price would go up again. He might even want to stay if they go up.

Isn't this the guy people were raging about us being linked with over the summer?

Indeed.

I don't think it's a question that he'd be a great talent with lots of potential who could grow with us, hopefully become a mainstay for years to come, like Botman, rather than a ready-made elite player like Bruno/Tonali.

Fwiw, people’s main issue/questions over him are his ability coming for crosses. It’s a weakness in his game, Burnley fans themselves say the same.

Tbf back in the day I had fans around me who used to slate Shay Given for the same thing. Football fans in general aren't very good at judging goalkeepers.

Wasn’t it a weakness of Given’s though?!

Trafford’s FBRef does suggest he is below average on crosses and someone on here said their Burnley mate calls him ‘Flapper Trafford’

It was a weakness aye. However, he was a top keeper in spite of it, is more my point.

Tbf, Given appeared to be permanently welded to his line for crosses into the box, and close range headers were definitely a weakness of his. It didn't stop him being an absolutely fantastic keeper for us mind.

Sign him and send Pope back to them for a few quid.

Imagine Pope in that God awful, pass it around at the back for ages system that Parker plays

There wouldn’t be as many 0-0’s for the fans to complain about

  • 2 weeks later...

He's currently on a run of 11 consecutive Championship games without conceding a goal, the last time he didn't kept a clean sheet and conceded a league goal was on the 21st December

Is he having to make any saves of note?

Not really per game, Burnley are very defensive as can be seen by how few goals they've scored compared to the teams around them.

What's the xG looking like, would provide a bit more context iyam

Burnley keeper James Trafford has only faced 21 shots on target in achieving his 11 successive clean sheets - including saving two penalties from Sunderland's Wilson Isidor.

No team has had more than three shots on target against them in any of those games.

Definitely think he’d be a great signing. A happy medium between Pope and Dubs with room to improve. I’d like to think he’d be behind an equally strong defence also.

Think that Hermanssen (?) at Leicester is better and probably cheaper.

Will watch him more closely next time as so far he’s never caught my eye.

Whats his strengths?
