I don’t mind DCL. Literally a back up striker for at worse, one season. If I could think of some good strikers that would cost less than £10m then sure, but I can’t.

Howe clearly favours experience in that 2nd striker and him coming on for final 20 of games isn’t some roof falling in stuff.

I'm in a minority but I'd take him as a backup striker on a reasonable financial package. He has ability and I think Howe could get something out of him.

The thing that puts me off is his horrific injury record. It's obviously taken a toll on his body, how much is the question.

Finding a genuine back up to a guaranteed starter and world class striker is genuinely quite difficult even for clubs bigger than ourselves TBF.

Spurs had this problem for years given Kane played every game. They found a solution in Son who could also play through the middle when he was out but even then they always also had some experienced jobs body CF to fill a squad place as rotation - e.g. Llorente.

If we signed a top quality wide player who can genuinely also play through the middle as well as sign quality in other positions then I could just a out accept this knacker as a Wilson replacement.

Do we think he can contribute anything though?

If his contribution is removing some of Isak’s workload then that’s good enough.  He will get his fair share of minutes I think

My main issue with him is his fitness record. He's already missed 110 days this year, and we're only 153 days in

2024 he missed 1 game through sniffles.

Worry would be hamstrings as that’s a regular injury. But not needing to play every game and chase lost causes may help? It’s a low bar to be more reliable than Wilson though.

How about this guy as back up

and Gordon/Osula as 3rd choice if needed! Leave the skirt wearing knacker far from our cloob.

It’s just like for like with Wilson really although different players. Body is knackered and he’s low on fitness and confidence.

It might work out but who’s to say.. the idea is to take some of the pressure off Isak.. I just can’t see that with someone who will either continue to be injured or take very long to get up to speed with how we play.

Hope it’s bullshit.
