Paul Mitchell to leave club by mutual consent at end of June (Official)

Backs up what many on here have said. Those initial interviews were abrasive and you could make some easy logical conclusions.

I think a lot of what Mitchell said and meant was correct in theory but the delivery was wrong. I too think Tino and Hall were £5-10m overpriced - we did pay a premium.  But they are also worth it.

Would have loved to have gotten Tino and Hall for less like. But that goes for every player really.

I think they are looking a bargain now - they've their best years ahead of them

I wasn't Eales' biggest fan at one point, but then he got ill so like most I just wanted the best for him.

Read elsewhere that he and Mitchell are personally close. The comment along the lines that Eddie was better concentrating on the pitch, or words to that effect, seemed a bit unnecessary at the time. Maybe it was an attempt at creating a defined structure in the various roles, but I just don't think it was that helpful to do in public.

The only time I've heard Eddie speak out of turn in public was in reaction to that, so I don't think communication can have been great. For what it's worth, I don't think they'd have had a much easier time with any manager worth his salt.

Whatever the truth of it, hopefully they go out on a high.

I still believe Mehrdad and Amanda were unnecessarily scapegoated for the PSR thing anyway, Eales was here during that time, as was our CFO, as was Jamie Rueben and the PIF overlords. It's always been a stupidly convenient thing our fans tend to do. We had an entire executive leadership team fully aware of the rules and math behind the calculations, but our fans love to find ways to point fingers at Amanda and Mehrdad. The issue has always been they club likely assumed more commercial revenue, less PL restrictions and a few decent sales or two - those never happened as the players who were deemed surplus absolutely fell off a cliff and the buyers never surfaced.

Anyway, good riddance to Mitchell. Hopefully our fans' weird obsessions over a fucking sporting director, who hasn't been relevant in the last 3-5 years anyway, dies officially today.

Whatever has happened, I look forward to Eddie being involved in who replaces Mitchell. Just so we as fans can avoid whats going on at board level. Too much fucking drama.

I hope Eddie doesn't identify a complete yes man tbh, but why wouldn't he I suppose.

Eddie is a fucking genius when you look at how destabilising this was and how shit things were genuinely looking in mid-December. To turn that round to our best season in living memory is insane [emoji38]

Goes and gets pneumonia, we win 2 matches and lose 1, comes back and still secures CL and takes back control of recruitment. Fucking ace.

Mehrdad and Amanda left because they couldn’t keep up with the cash injections.

Yeah, think it's an important role to have going forward tbh.

Just needs to be done properly next time. The approach to the whole thing last time seemed really off.

There's literally nothing in Eddie's CV or personality to ever think he'd want a yes-man. When you give him plaudits for coaching, he immediately mentions JT and his staff. Just go and look up his stage speech after we won the cup final. He thanks his support always, and singles out JT as basically being his collaborator.

Do find it mad that Eales appointed him without any input from Howe mind.

100% agree with this. Eales was so very tight with Howe and supportive of him and yet he brings in a complete miss of a sporting director after Dougie Freedman didn't work out. Very very odd decision to think that would go over well with Eddie. Didn't consult him, didn't give him a heads up. Strange.
