Paul Mitchell to leave club by mutual consent at end of June (Official)

Recommended Posts

I remember there being quite a bit of anger when the transfer window closed in the summer and many saying “this can’t happen again”. So far, it has happened again but now we have a smaller squad.

1 extra player could have made a huge impact for our Top 4 hopes..Surely next season Spurs, Man Utd etc  will improve. Time will tell but feel this is a missed opportunity to kick on

I would date check this. When we have that freedom to spend, we'll look back and realise it was the best thing.

However, I'm not putting on this on Mitchell, the owners or anyone else within our club.  Its all on the shitty corrupt rules, which are there for all to see. They're not even shy about how fixed it all is now.

But it isn’t because we can’t spend any money.

Was a little bit different with chasing Guehi for weeks. If they had come out and said we need to keep it tight for one more season, there would have been little anger.

Then don't cry when we sell Isak,Bruno or tonali ..just so we can buy to give fans a fix.

It’s not really fair to say that when Howe himself said we were trying to buy that new Man City defender despite not actually being able to due to PSR. Combined with Guehi and the late Elanga bid, that presumably means the club either don’t understand the rules, they are willing to sell a much better player to fund it or we do actually have money.

Without the accounts we will never be able to tell, however the multiple bean counters on here who know best  seem to think we don't have a pot to piss in.

Under PSR I reckon we'd have a healthy budget in the summer if we got top 5.

The problem is SCR then comes into play which limits is more than PSR would.

Of course it's FMV that's the real limiting factor under with measure

I don't think it's PSR or Mitchell to blame... The whole transfer market is frozen because Dan Ashworths not had a transfer window in two years.

Think of all those South American wonder kids with broken hearts because no one at either club decided to check his list before he left.

Interesting that his recruitment model seems to be NOT to recruit where possible. Which actually makes a whole lot of sense.

I'm not sure our young conveyor belt is quite ready for this.

This turned out to be surprisingly accurate.

This cunt not heard of loan deals? Seems everybody else has.

Most loan deals for decent players come with a hefty fee and often with an obligation to buy - and that's if you even want the player in the first place.

There is a reason that Rashford has just gone on loan - besides, Villa sold a reserve CF to KSA for seventy million quid so they have the 'headroom' to pay that waster.

I'm struggling to see where Mitchell is to blame for not making signings that we can't currently make.  Yes, we bid crazy money for Guehi - which was likely an informed gamble to try to secure a top five position, and would likely have seen a player leave for significant value before 30th June.

We don't, unfortunately - the owners have backed the club in the transfer market previously and allowed us to spend the maximum possible.  The lack of signings isn't down to a lack of will - we can't sign players at the moment for any significant fee.

After everything we've seen and heard over the last 3 years I defy anyone to say we're just happy to sit and not actively push the club forward. Every single thing that's happened has been to try and drive the whole thing onwards and upwards, they've made mistakes but the intention could never be called into question, on and off the field the club has grown and we're still a long way behind some of the competition, that's down to the restrictions which are out of our control

If we could spend money then we would always choose to do so. That fact no-one has come in strongly suggests that it's because we can't not because we can't be arsed. The board will be just as frustrated that we can't spend and invest but I can almost guarantee it's not because the ambition is lacking, it's the limits that have been imposed on us. They need to be cut an awful lot of slack tbh
