I’ll reframe the question. If a fan of another club told you that a new sporting director had arrived in the summer and 2 months (not a few weeks, which is a pisspoor attempt at gaslighting) in to the job had not signed any first team or first team adjacent players while unsettling a great manager, would you tell them to change their sheets?

Not if the club had been a circus for best part of 20 years. But I don't know Eddie like you seem to. Things take time.

But we can agree to disagree. Sorry I posted in a slightly open, positive manner that you did'nt agree with.

Eddies comments from his presser:

"James is working really well I have to say, I think he has been hugely impressive since he has come in, hes very passionate, hard working, involved from the very start planning phase of training, to the execution, he gives us really detailed analysis afterwards as well, so I think he's been a really good addition to the team, its been very positive."

Hugely promising. I think his relationship with Bunce going south could have more quickly led to him leaving than whatever is happening with Mitchell.

And anything that helps on the injury front would obviously be welcome.

When old ways included:

- worst injury record in the league two season in a row

- Botman deciding when he was fit or not

- Gordon deciding when he wanted to do gym work

Then I can see why Bunce’s involvement has been well received. Hopefully we see a lot less injuries this season.

I did wonder whether Howe was being so positive so that it does not look like he has an issue with multiple people.

If Howe is playing a bit of a game with Mitchell it does not look good if he’s in conflict with two people. He’d look more like the issue not Mitchell.

Have we had an injury yet?

Just a couple of minor tweaks I can think of. Then again, we haven't seem to have the same levels of fitness yet either.

But it was a bit of a tongue in cheek question as going back to his job description in the post on page 1, I think it's broader than that, including stuff like the psychology dept etc.

Main thing I'm wondering is what a performance director actually does day to day.

It's not meant as a criticism - I genuinely don't know if he does get involved directly or is mainly there to provide stats, analysis and new ideas to the manager, and then to what extent the manager has to listen to those.

Good post - I was very one dimensional in my brief reply, but I believed big part of Bunce was to get a balance between fitness and form from our players.

I am not sure our performances reflect either improving, as it's felt more tactically hindered than anything else. I think the impact of Bunce is a long term measurement.

Works day to day with Howe on the training pitch apparently.

Yeah me too. Performance Director.

Isn't that the managers job? 😆
