I mean we can call it a rash challenge but it was a lovely bit of play from Olmo, I imagine many a defender would have given a penalty away in the same situation

He was great all game. No real complaints. Incredibly unfortunate to get done by Olmo at the end there.

People will complain though, we all defended well until that last moment, the fact is we knew it was coming as we simply don't keep clean sheets.

He’s not very good and I don’t think it is coincidence that our defence has got worse with him in it. He is this generation’s Steven Taylor.

I do agree that if we keep on conceding like this the next season then I suspect there’s something wrong with Thiaw which we can’t figure it out yet.

Harsh to blame him. He shouldn't be in that position to begin with and is done with a lovely bit of play.

if it was an isolated incident fair enough but how many times

I found out today the Blue Whales arsehole was 3 foot wide.

I thought that was big until I came in this thread and seen some of the comments.

He's been punished for another one of the errors we knew was in his game when we signed him, but he's still been fantastic this season in spite of that.

Lots of costly mistakes now and I'm sometimes not sure about his positioning when the game is stretched and we are dropping deeper into our own area. He is the player we reportedly signed not the one that was celebrated as a resounding success after three or four matches: he has all the gifts and the right tools but he is too prone to lapses and errors.

so irritating because him being able to go up 1v1 vs their left winger all game and beat them was a massive part of our approach. It left our right back to be able to press them high, and be free to receive the ball higher up the pitch.

He was flawless at it. Then you get that at the end. Don’t know what to say. It’s like god designed a season of football entirely to piss off Newcastle fans.

I don't even think it's an "error" as such.

He's one on one with a technically superior attacker who does him with a quality bit of skill. If he doesn't dangle the leg and Olmo bends it in the corner he gets criticised too.
