Botman and Thiawhave played as CB in a few matches now for a various reason. They deserve to keep their place until they absolutely need a rest or have a drop of form. Schar and Burn have been very good but it's their turn to wait for their chance now to get their spots back. Not that it's Schars or Burn's fault. Just would send the wrong signals.

There all silly sausages, we’ve never over payed for a player in the PIF Eddie era.

Our hit rate in the transfer market has been ridiculously good. Even the ones that got away mostly look good (I'll apply the Man Utd/Amorim caveat to Sesko).

I really like what I see from Thiaw so far. Above all, he seems like a really sound guy with his feet firmly on the ground. I can envisage this guy being here for a good 5-8 years and being a solid mainstay in the squad, a worthy heir the Schär's throne.

We did overpay but it's alright. The overpay reference relates to Como having a deal done at 20m euro earlier in the window.

Finished at RB, wonder if we might see him start there the odd game to give Trippier a break while Tino is out, with Schar coming back in?

Definitely think it’s the way we’ll go later in games to see them out.

Chris Wood says “hi”

We got what we wanted out of him and sold for a price that reflected that.

Surely we got 10 Million worth out of him on the pitch with stopping relegation and the push up the league.

We sold at £10m less. I was being slightly disingenuous bringing him up as ultimately the money we paid completely fucked Burnley up and contributed heavily as to why they went down. So there was value in that.

Interesting point, Howe clearly loves height in his team and is wanting Burn in the 11

Thiaw are RB could be a way to get Hall in the team without having 2 small FB's whilst Tino is out.

It's lush knowing we have 4 centre-backs and 4 wide attackers. Chuck in Wissa's recovery and the depth is very promising.

We’ll need that depth through 13 very winnable (in the main) games through November and December. Clock’s ticking but hoping we get our three main men back in time.

Pretty much got our money back within a year?

Targett the only real "miss", and even that was due to injuries.

The "flops" of the PIF aren't even that bad.

Chris Wood didn't exactly set the heather alight for us, but he served his purpose by getting a few crucial goals in the 21/22 season, we castrated Burnley (a relegation rival) by nuying him and we ended up getting a decent chunk of money back for him.

Lloyd Kelly was pish, but he cost nothing and we got him to fuck 6 months later and scammed Juve in the process. Win.

Matt Targett had a good loan spell with us, few would've argued against making his loan permanent for a relatively modest fee (15m?), unfortunately injuries have blighted him which isn't his fault. Shit happens.

I've also seen some people call Osula a flop. I wouldn't go as far as that personnally as it seems he was brought in as a developmental player with a view to flipping as opposed to a first team regular. He still has a hell of a lot to work on but he's started to chip with goals and assists and ease the burden on the first teamers.

Anyway, back to Thiaw. I would ride into battle for him.

However boring it is repeating myself to this kind of shite, I'll do it again.

For the dunces at the back........and breathe

We were getting relegated, nailed on

Needed a striker, urgently, otherwise it was Dwight Gayle

Needed a proven PL striker.........

Bought him from our relegation rivals who, subsequently, got relegated

We didn't

Sold him, varnigh got our money back

I don't, even, need to mention his success in a team playing to his strengths consistently or his hat-trick back at our's BUT

Rinse, repeat

It's a fact though

Doesn't mean he's bad or won't be worth more than what we paid or anything negative. It just means we paid more than what Como would have done.

That's irrelevant. A price for Como, isnt a price for us.

I don't want my club to play a game of bargain hunt, I want them to sign good players. Weve done that.

Assuming he keeps a similar level of performance, id say not only have we not overpaid, weve actually got an incredible deal. Early days.

It's very relevant, you think Milan turn down an extra million from us and give him cheaper to someone else?

The future value of what he may or may not be worth isn't relevant to fact we overpaid at the time.

This isn't a complaint it is what it is at this point and obviously the conversation has moved past what we paid.
