Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

If he’s given a chance, then fair enough. I just think it would be a shame for us to sell him right now when his ceiling is potentially very high.

I think the issue is 23 in August, and with big outlay and potential losses needed to shift Big Nick or Wissa means the one that makes "sense" is Osula even if the clauses are met and he costs us the full £15m we could get 25/30/35 with clauses added into his sale contract ideally to allow us the squad place and wiggle room money wise to try and fix the striker issue.

It could be an Ivan Toney regret but I dont think we have the time to keep persisting with him while we struggle for results and need consistency ideally.

Runs like you when you played for us tbh.

Had to think about that because the username is based on a legit nickname from decades ago (and if on anyone Jonas Thern) but I got there in the end and you're right when I recall him marauding at Man United on his debut.

Qualifying for the Conference League would be great for Osula. Would start him in all of those games early on.

In fact if we qualify for it I'd keep Neave, Park, Salia, Shahar, Sanusi and Cordero around and give them good opportunities in the early rounds of that competition, mixing them in with some of the more established squad players.

Amazing goal. Personally I’d be getting rid of him, Willock, Murphy to start with. Not too bothered about any of our forward players tbh. We obviously can’t get rid of all.

Love how he stumbled a little too, that's just his style and in a weird way I wasn't surprised he scored that. He's definitely capable of it on a consistent basis he just needs to smooth the edges to his game when dribbling.

Definitely a player I'd like us to keep hold of for a good few seasons, could be a gem especially under Eddie.

In a team of predictability, he brings the unpredictable. I like it. Just needs to get in the correct positions, and I still think him & Wolt have a partnership in the making.

Eddie would play full strength.

I think that's harsh hes a potential diamond in the rough but we spent over 120m trying to fill the void of 23/25 goals gone in the side when the rat left.

If you think another year of big nick, wissa and osula is good enough for where we want to be fine I hope so too.

Hypothetical here I know but if someone said the manager agrees striker needs looking at again and you assess who goes wissa for a massive loss, big nick massive loss or osula double your money in a world where transfer failures harm the club I would vote for osula.

Wissa would be my pick based on this seasons performance or lack thereof but dont know anyone is going to bail us out with 40m+ for him.  We arent going to be able to recruit in the forward areas without someone going.

Does the fact Eddie Howe and Will Osula both spelled out how carefully rehearsed last night's run and shot for the winning goal were mean he is not actually all that chaotic and unpredictable, and that he can be integrated into a system just the way our coaching team like to?

I want March-April 26 Osula to be the new November-December 22 Almiron. Spectacular winners from the same spot on the pitch week after week after week. Season fixed.

Watched his goal another few times just now and can’t get over how he just decides he’s winning the game.

There might actually be a player there.

I don't think he could even see the post from where he took the shot. Brilliant strike - crazy amount of whip to bend it around the defender. The lungbursting bending run from our half just makes it all the better.

I really like Osula - his ceiling is huge and, as it stands, he's perfect for the role of a wildcard sub. He's still too raw to be starting though and, at the same, needs to be playing regularly at his age. Loan to a good team on the continent or sale with a buyback would be best for both parties, I think.

I just players who perform consistently in a B&W shirt tbh, rather than folks thinking they’re the second coming after an excellent cameo once in a blue moon

As a lad you can tell he’s got a big personality and gives it his all.  To the point he’s got ADHD energy about him.  he’ll graft and not be afraid to try things. Only Barnes or maybe Gordon would’ve intentionally done what Osula did with that intention.

Elanga has the ability to do it but it would be much more ‘off the cuff’ like his own Man U goal.

It's about potential though, you see it or you don't, it's been evident to me from early days that he can turn a game. He needs more minutes to up his consistency, and well, Eddie Howe. I hope he gets more than 10 minutes tomorrow
