Will Osula

He was very "meh".

Linked up alright at times, but his movement and awareness looked well off it. It was a rarity, but when the ball was playing into the box, he was caught on his toes.

That was the standout thing for me, he just doesn't seem to know how to escape defenders. The natural strikers like Isak aren't physical beasts either, but they know how to steal a yard or drop in behind a defender. Osula lacks the top strikers movement.

I actually thought he got better as the game went on.  He’s obviously raw thought some of the free kicks against him were bonkers.  Biggest niggle for me though as a striker he doesn’t attack the space in the box.  If he did he could have had 2 in the first 25 mins

He's ony going to improve if he actually gets significant minutes on the pitch. There's something there but we're in a catch 22 with him atm - he's not doing enough in games but because of that Howe doesn't trust him to bring him on very often which means he doesn't really improve which means he's not developing which means he's not doing enough in games and round and round we go. A loan would be ideal but we just don't have the numbers to allow him to go as we're short as fuck up top. It's a puzzle and I'm not sure what the solution is in all honesty

This is gonna sound spectacularly Brexit of me, but he needs to bulk up. Or use his body better. Bit of comedown for him today I expect, after the thrill of scoring on Monday. Think there's a useful player here, but for now, an impact/chaos causing sub

Said it before but he reminds me of a foal learning how to use his limbs.

Might be because we've moved on just a bit from the halcyon days of aiming for 17th in the table under Ashley.

Don’t think it’s a difficult one. If we’ve got 2 strikers in a couple of days time we loan him out to a Championship side. He’d get a regular game for one of the shit ones, surely?

Would 2 be enough for a 55ish game season though? Even off the bench he'd get lots of minutes coming on to keep the main 2 guys fresh

He will come good I have faith in him.

It's getting ridiculous in here like, his first start for the club in the Premier league as striker and getting isolated for majority of the game, give the lad a chance.

Aye and we demanded a team that tries then as well and we didn't always get it.. now we have players that give their all for the club, the manager, and the fans, an we fuck them out of it because they're not good enough? I'll take an average player that puts their heart on their pitch over a great player that's playing for a wage every day of the week. I'm not saying he should be our main striker but Jesus give the man a bit of credit for what he's doing in the situation he's in.

The club I support supports players that do their best

Get shot of him,get Vardy for a year and a Wilson replacement. Its not going to happen for him here.

I don't think he needs more game time at this level because he is lacking some of the basics of being a PL striker. There are some strikers with half his raw skills in this league that scores goals because of their movement and nous about the position. He needs to learn that first if he intends being a PL striker.

Whether or not he is actually a CF is another story. I cannot find a position suited to his current skill set.

That’s never, ever been the case.  No-one has ever accepting having players who aren’t seen as good enough - you wouldn’t give a player grief, but there’s nothing wrong with saying a player isn’t good enough even though he plays in a committed manner.  If the club signed 25 players from the fourth tier and sold our squad, there’s zero chance you’d be on here stating that it’s all good because they’re all trying

Defo seems more dangerous as a wide player currently where he can get abit more time and space. Seem to lack the striker instincts today with a couple of crosses where you felt a seasoned number 9 would have got Infront got their defender.

Needs game time to develop but not sure he will get it now and if we want to continue to challenge CL places then we can't really afford to give it to him.

He might well have a eureka moment and start putting it all together. His biggest issue is reading the game. Obviously, a loan to a Champ club so can find out what works for him would be preferable. Who knows with our situation though…

It would. We already know Eddie would put Gordan up top (as has been proven), and despite his recent lack of discipline he'll be our 3rd striker in the depth chart.

Eddie sees what all of us do really. Osula tries hard, eager to please (maybe too eager) but lacks striker instincts, confidence and experience.

I quite like Osula personally so I'd want to see if he can progress on loan.

In fairness, the banner I believe you're referring to said 'we demand a club that tries'. Aiming our shot at the clubs' hierarchy back then who were happy to let us circle the toilet bowl so long as they lined their pockets. Part of being a club that tries is buying player who give their all but also those of the required quality.

You could pick 11 random fans from the stands and I'm sure they'd give everything for the badge.
