We overachieved for a number of reasons when we qualifed for the CL a year ago, but the cartel teams are improving year on year, they aren't going to sit on their hands either. So we have to keep improving, and that means in the positions we don't have CL standard players, we have to try and acquire them. We've a poor history of making a balls up or two or terrible luck the season after qualifying for Champions league... 97/98...bad luck and poor judgement. Losing Shearer, and deciding Barnes, Pearce, and Rush would compensate 01-03...qualifies with Dabizas and O'brien, tries to improve with Woodgate who would have worked if not made of glass, and trying to phase Speed out with Viana.
