From what we have read over the last few days though they haven't rejected us outright. They are just hoping to bait some other bidders and get the best possible price for him. He's obviously got talent, maybe still got some learning to do.

Too many of our fans are very quick to sacrifice quality.

 

Give me one excellent player over two good ones. If a RW has to wait, then it waits. If a CB has to wait, it's waits. Just make sure the signings are quality.

Fans usually know their own players bettter than anyone. If they rate him that highly then he's a good player.

I’d say his true market value is probably in the region of 50-55 million, as people have said many times  Chelsea’s sell on clause is what’s bumping up the valuation. Our problem is there are not many premiership ready players available right now I’d guess?

All this based on one game. Where he won’t be fully up to speed after the Euros and could well be struggling mentally with quite a bit on his mind. Seems a bit knee jerk. 
 

The fee does seem high. But the premium for English players from this league always is. It’s nothing new. 
 

3 years ago he cost £18m as a 21 year old and he’s clearly massively kicked on from there. With the state of today’s fees. It’s not that outrageous.
 

Even if we are possibly over-paying by say 5-10 mil. As others have said. Could be because of this sell on clause being a sticking point for Palace and they’re trying to cover it this way.

Because it’s us bidding for him  But if our overlords want him enough and get him, I’ll have to believe that to them he is worth it. Then see what Eddie and co get out of him.
