We have already spent close to 40, can’t see us having more if we spend another 70 on Guehi.

There must surely be some leg room for spending after making £60m profit on Anderson and Minteh though? I still think we'll identify someone for RW and try and offload Almiron in the next few days, hope so anyway.

I'm struggling to see how we do 2 deals in 3 days after how long it's taken to do one

In fairness that's mainly down to Palace being stubborn as fuck about it. Plus we may have already started a deal for a right winger. Its going to be incredibly annoying if we still haven't addressed that position through yet another transfer window.

I don't think Parish is too arsed whether he goes or not. I think if they could get replacement lined up they'd do the deal at the max value, but otherwise he will stay and they'd be fine with that too.

It is pretty clear now I'd say that we have no other alternatives lined up, and we've put our entire transfer window eggs one basket.

It is looking pretty shambolic to be honest

If we do get him (which i don't believe) he will be immediately be on radio boasting of fleecing us and how he's not that good, if we don't hell claim credit for keeping one of their best, probably win win for him

I wonder if Parish pissing us around has something to do with when we tried to get Dougie Freedman as sporting director. Maybe we were underhand about it and Parish is getting one over.

Nah, he’s just a complete and utter cunt

Disasi on loan from Chelsea will happen if this doesn’t imo.

Other posters have pointed out it’s less of a risk paying premium fees for establish led premier league talent, which is fair.

But nevertheless I can’t help be disappointed our supposedly strengthened scouting network can’t identify other suitable CB targets within such a big price-bracket.

The FFP complaints are jarring if this is our strategy.

I've gone through the phases of being excited about this rumour, to being bored by it, and now I'm coming around to being amused.

Just waiting to see how the sky falls in, both whether we sign him or whether we don't.

We have spent basically every last penny we're allowed to spend since the takeover happened.

Apart from the £60 million or so we're trying to throw at Palace for Guehi. So not every last penny. We're pissing around to save £5 million and have wasted a good portion of the window concentrating on 1 player. It's turning into a massive embarrassment imo. We should have moved on 2 weeks ago. As I said, infuriating.

Well, it is though isn’t it? We’re buying him for 5+ years. The early part of the competition he probably wouldn’t start in anyway. IF (and it’s still and if), he’s cup tied, he’ll max miss a Quarter, Semi and Final, and by that time Botman and Lascelles will be back in the squad.

I just don’t think it’s that important.

To us but it’s a mass statement from them, they said all along they wanted to keep him and they’re playing him in a cup game - if he plays he’s not coming as far as I’m concerned.

I thought we did all right last year?

We came 7th with Chelsea and Man U having off seasons. I think it will be harder this year, although it is still pretty open.

Can see it being only a few points separating 8th and 4th unless one team storms it.
