He’s obviously being professional, just doing his job, until his job changes. Can’t knock him for it, but if he’d chucked the dummy/refused to play etc then it would be done by now.

There’s a middle ground though, there’s nothing unprofessional about telling your club you want a move.

No but people tell us he really wants the move, so what’s it based on. So far we have little evidence that anyone on the Palace side is interested in this happening.

The negotiation seems to consist of us getting turned down, coming back with more, and getting turned down again.

 

Right now Palace have no replacement, have sold their other first team CB, and the defender they bought this summer just got injured. A hell of a lot needs to happen in a couple of days for Guehi to end up at Newcastle.

They're also going to sign either Gomez or Chalobah I suspect.

It's not so long ago that we'd have been after this sort of player to help us be safe mid-table, in the hope of flipping him for a Guehi-like fee within 2-3 years to a big club.

 

Now we're the ones going for the Guehi-like players.
