I find it a bit mad, some of the apathy towards Elanga.

If Kubo or Bakayoko played for Forest and Elanga's highlight reel was with Real Sociedad or PSV, we'd probably want him over the others.

It's not apathy, but is the price. He is not a top4 level player and will cost us a fortune.

More I think about the more I want it. Possession is and always will be for fannies. He perfectly fits the "progress vertically quickly" mantra we have, we don't play for possession's sake, we seek to hurt immediately and his speed will only help that. Tonali and Bruno will be loving his runs...and the kicker, if Eddie wants him, I now want him

I’ve said it before that I would much rather have Madueke than Elanga, even though he wouldn’t be my first choice. I think he offers a lot more in general play and against a low block while still being good in transitions. Yeah you can argue about his output  but I think his overall ability and potential ceiling is much higher.

I think Newcastle and Eddie would be the perfect place for him. Give him a more settled environment where he can feel more valued and I reckon he would prosper before too long. Give him that and I’m sure his confidence and joy for football would come quickly. Along with that his output and consistency as well.

Im pretty certain that Elanga wouldn’t do too well at Chelsea.

There’s probably no need for me anymore to say that I’m not his biggest fan. I understand that some of his attributes could be very effective for us in certain games. He’s not a bad player, just a bit limited and one dimensional.

Having said that, IF (Big IF) we get Joao Pedro then it changes a lot for me. If we get him then I’d be much more open to the idea of Elanga even though he wouldn’t be my first choice. I’d still want a more technical player that offers a bit more in general play than him.

JP in there and it’s a massive difference for Elanga than Elanga in our current 4-3-3 without him. Most likely wouldn’t even be the same setup “on paper”, most games at least.

I mean you would imagine we'll be signing 4-5 players this window. Elanga alone would obviously be a poor window.

Obviously. It’s more about the potential change in setup with someone centrally playing further up. Especially when said player has the attributes that Joao Pedro has. Makes a massive difference to me if it happens. There would be so much more playing depth and variety in our game with a player like him there.

The only way we get more technical ability is if we shop abroad and are prepared to take a bit more of a risk their talent will translate to the PL. For the £40-50m (at least)  we'd pay for Elanga, we could get the finished article abroad. I think the English PL tax alone must add about 20% to any fees. But I can understand why as a manager Eddie doesn't want to take chances.

I can understand why too. Just for me Elanga shouldn’t even be an option unless we get someone like JP in there. Entirely different to me.

But even if we don't change from 4-3-3 Howe has switched around how we attack loads. Joelinton/Willock dovetailing for example.

More bodies in midfield and attack will mean we can manage our minutes better. I don't think we have much issues creating chances when we're fit.

Personally I think we’ve struggled at times to break teams down in certain games. Where we’ve really not been able to feed Isak as much as we would have liked. Where it has looked like we’ve run out of ideas. Obviously not most games no.

It wouldn’t surprise me to find that Forest sign one of our players if this goes through…

I agree, but Isak was unfit for decent spells last season, Joelinton too, and Bruno playing almost every minute means he is going to burn out.

We force lower half sides into making mistakes and gatecrashing the box as they don't have the quality to play through us. We used to struggle a lot more against sides who could play through us. Injuries and fitness issues forced us to adapt but I imagine Howe still wants to return back to what we're good at.

I don't want us to sign Joao Pedro, it doesn't make sense, not sure he's the right character given his recent bust up and he's yet another forward player who prefers the left side, also can't see him being happy not featuring when Isak is firing, we bought Will Osula and he needs to grow into that role.

I do however see the sense in this lad as a right wing option that we need, absolutely behind us signing Elanga, I pray the Pedro rumours are just rumours.
