I’m all for us getting Eddie’s top target but these PL clubs are absolute cunts to deal with. I have no desire to fund or fix any other financial issues.

They’ll never sell him on the cheap. He’s too good and their fans love him.

He’s like their Isak or Livramento where they won’t sell this window unless there’s bonkers money on the table.

In terms of players who have a high chance of hitting the ground running, probably not. Monaco want £60m minimum for Akliouche for example, who I do think would hit the ground running in the PL. There will of course be cheaper options who would require a longer bedding in period. Hard to say if those cheaper options would constitute better value though, because the premium for PL players is about reducing risk of the player not being able to cope in the PL.

Not a lot there to disagree on. However if you look at our previous transfer history there hasn’t been a lot of flops from outside the prem whereas Targett + Wood definitely didn’t work out as planned.

I don’t think Akliouche would hit the ground running, personally. Great prospect but really lightweight.

At the top level there isn’t a pronounced difference in transfer fees from the PL and abroad.

Arsenal keen as well, apparently.

Aren't we messing them about too though. They've said £60m+ by nearly every report going. They don't need to sell and yet we're going in with low bids we know will get rejected.

I don't see our logic.

Absolutely. They’re just doing exactly what what we would if anyone came in for our stars - demand a premium and tell them fuck off if they aren’t prepared to meet it. It’s exactly why we need to be looking elsewhere. If we can’t just meet the price for a club that aren’t needing to sell, we need to take advantage of positions elsewhere and be smarter

Forest did the genious but yet unpopular move of buying a Man Utd reject, and 2 years later he's worth multiple times more. Not the first time that happens.

Can see Garnacho going on to be decent somewhere tbh

Well, Forest know we have more money to allocate having lost Pedro. So put in a proper, take it or leave it bid. If refused, wish them a hearty fuck off and on to plan B.

Good point, although arguably those two came from a different pool of players than Elanga and the others we've been looking at this window. Think we just needed a couple of experienced operators in those positions at the time.

Possibly would need to bulk up a bit, but his off-the-ball work being so good makes me optimistic about him integrating more quickly.

I would love the opportunity to find out which of us is right :naughty: (as long as he comes here and not some other PL club)

Osula as cover for Murphy

Howe doesn't appear to be ready to trust Osula yet.  He had 168 minutes for the year. That means we rely on 30 year old Murphy with Gordon and Barnes as backup, which makes the LW vulnerable. We really need a RW and Bakayoko or Kang-in Lee would make much cheaper backups who would get a lot of playing time this coming season.  Madueke would work if you must have PL experience.  One of those signings let us spend on RCB too.  I think that is where we need a ready made starter and it will be expensive.
