That was utterly utterly boring, but we didn't get out of neural, let alone first gear, and we got through. They had two shots all game, both in the 95th minute, which sums it up really. So job done, and we all forget this game ever happened.

Saw it from 75 mins or so, typically dreary low tempo affair against a team that (understandably) came to hang on as long as possible before rolling the dice. Meh, nowt to be gleaned, onwards to Chelsea.

At home against a League Two side who´s come here expecting to play at their own ground and we scored one goal from a penalty [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

Easily muscled off the ball most of the game and struggled to create anything of note. So pathetic. Almiron, Longstaff and Willock with some real stinkers. Put Longstaff in a mid table League One side and he would fail to make an impression.

Wasn't the most entertaining game and we were too slow in the build up for large periods but it was also very controlled and we barely conceded a shot on goal and had over 80% of the ball. The slow build up definitely helped them but Wimbledon were very organised getting 10 man behind the ball making it difficult to create chances. Don't think this was the ideal first game for Osula as his pace and movement in behind look like some of his strongest attributes, but on the rare occasion he had chance his off the ball movement did look very good, think he could become a good striker as he becomes more polished and plays in games that are a bit more stretched.

Overall, performance was fine, nothing more, nothing less

We're through, that's all that matters and I don't think we played bad given the players we had on the pitch. They had some lucky blocks that kept the score as is. That poor lad that took Willock's shot to the face the prime example.

Literally just played it safe, but created nothing.

The fullbacks offer nothing in attacks, and the wingers cut inside near enough everytime, must be a nightmare for a striker taking up the penalty area.

Not great we just look such a poor footballing team unless where pressing at 100mph.

Really disappointing how we look totally clueless when presented with a parked bus. Bruno showed the way when he came on by shifting past a couple of players and opening it up somewhat.

Eddie seems to love Longstaff though.

I’ve been as critical as any over our performances so far this season, however I wouldn’t read anything into this game. 8 changed against a lower league side, just a typical cup game imo.

One final point, can we all collectively claim time back from the ref for wasting our time? Where did 5 minutes of stoppage time come from

Not one for the ages. The build up was slow and ponderous. But not really anything new there. When we don’t have space to attack, it has been a feature of Howe’s time here. It is one of the few criticisms aimed at him that I agree with.

All that said. We played in first gear all game. Got some players minutes and involved in the starting XI that probably needed it and they’ve had a sort of cross-come-shot-come-passback in the 95th minute and that’s it.

No idea why they didn’t go for it a bit sooner. Odd strategy waiting until the 92nd-93rd minute to actually commit men forward.

For all that it was dreadful to watch. Not sure I agree with comments like ‘pathetic’ and ‘shambles’. It was just boring, by the numbers game management.

Would agree in principle, but was still disappointed with our lack of initiative when we had the ball. Players just didn't know what to do with the ball even given all the time in the world on it.
