No manager is with this squad.

Our disastrous transfer business last couple of windows is partly to blame, but who owns that debacle? Has Howe not been backed or did he insist on the fruitless chase for Guehi? Did Howe say it was ok to go into the season with Isak/Wilson and a clearly unprepared Osula? Who decided Almiron/Murphy would suffice for another season? It’s a huge ask for this team to get into the top 6,

Frustrating but how often have we sucker punched other teams and then held on. Played at our own game. Need something to click and maybe fresh blood in Jan. Positives Hall looking a solid player as is Livramento, thought Joelinton did his job well, Burn up for it, Tonali has top awareness of what's around him and  Collective Pressing and Intensity looks back at leats

Nothing wrong tactically at all, it was the front 3 not putting it away, created enough chances and didn't give Brighton much across middle of pitch or at back. Need someone to have a bit of scoring form, Isak or Gordon

This. There's been issues this season for sure but I thought we played well today, just couldn't finish the chances we made.

Just crazy subs seems the easy target tonali mind every game without fail he comes off for either Willock or Longstaff.

So we went from two centre mids that can find a pass to one then he takes off bruno leaving us with none it's laughable.

Brighton got the luck we didn't.  The ref was generally poor (Veitman's dive being one bug example). The players are lacking some belief and confidence. Eddie isn't sure of his best 11 and won't change tactics that aren't quite sparking into life. First half we were easily the better side second half lost our way . Taking Tonali off seemed to make matters worse. It's time to cash in on either Barnes or Gordon ( for me I'd be selling Barnes) and strengthen the first team quality in other areas that are fundamentally lacking. We've payed the price for a poor summer window and dropped 5 points in two games we should have won based on the lions share of the play.  Time for everyone to show what they're about.  Some very high paid staff and players at the club time to get creative we need a mini rebuild here.

I'm not going to read too much into that one.

Just need to start scoring a couple and get the confidence back. Especially Isak and Gordon.

Performance itself wasn't really any cause for concern.

Just shit it was against a rival.

Feel like people have completely forgotten how good this side used to be. If that's our best performance of the season and satisfactory other than some poor finishing, then we've fallen. In the first half, Brighton were all over the place and we couldn't capitalise, we played decent with some intent and intensity but never looked like scoring. Second half we were utterly abysmal. Miles off it.

We don’t know the answers to those questions but yeah, the window was a disaster

Top player - Hall for me.

Hall and Joelinton were good. Both made a howler in the same passage of play, mind. Burn saved them with some heroic defending. He was also decent enough. Save for a couple of clangers.

Tonali and Bruno were alright. Tino was poor. Has all the attributes. But he makes weird decisions all the while.

The rest of them were extremely frustrating/not good.

We lack craft and guile in games like that. Just loads of players who like to sprint directly at the opposition with the ball and not offer a lot else. The formation probably doesn’t help, either.

If nothing changes in the rules, upper midtable and occasionally better is our lot in life.

Apparently having clubs most of us detest being more competitive with City is worth that

He's quite happy to watch isak and gordon squander chances and possession all game rather than change it up and swap like for like. He'd rather take hall off another creative player off for a striker when tino could of come off.

Isak unfit and Barnes should have started, but we dominated the game and if we play like that for most pf thevseason we'll challenge for top 4.

I can't see us challenging for top 4 tbh, teams have sussed out how to play against us and we don't have a plan B. We really struggle against a low block/counter attacking setup, we have done for ages now. Add that to the fact we are naff away from home and we'll drop too many points IMO.

I hate to roll out stats as they obviously don't tell the full story, but for all our possession, Brighton had as many "big chances" as we did today despite barely touching the ball for 45 minutes. That's not really good enough and is symptomatic of a serious lack of creativity.

We don't have better players than those 2 though and would often come up with something. For some reason just too many players not in form yet

The truly disheartening thing is I don't think we can even blame anybody for the window.

We weren't allowed to spend the money we have and in fact had to sell under the current rules

Genuinely don't think it's any more complicated than analysing why our players can't finish at the moment. 0 goals from a combined xG of ~4 in the last 2 matches is bizarre when you know the quality our players have.

Willy and Barnes see if it works if the other two aren't doing it.
