Infinitely Content
Feel like people have completely forgotten how good this side used to be. If that's our best performance of the season and satisfactory other than some poor finishing, then we've fallen. In the first half, Brighton were all over the place and we couldn't capitalise, we played decent with some intent and intensity but never looked like scoring. Second half we were utterly abysmal. Miles off it.

Has Howe not been backed or did he insist on the fruitless chase for Guehi? Did how say it was ok to go into the season with Isak/Wilson and a clearly unprepared Osula? Who decided Almiron/Murphy would suffice for another season? It’s a huge ask for this team to get into the top 6, We don’t know the answers to those questions but yeah, the window was a disaster

Both made a howler in the same passage of play, mind. Burn saved them with some heroic defending. He was also decent enough. Save for a couple of clangers. Tonali and Bruno were alright. Tino was poor. Has all the attributes. But he makes weird decisions all the while. The rest of them were extremely frustrating/not good. We lack craft and guile in games like that. Just loads of players who like to sprint directly at the opposition with the ball and not offer a lot else. The formation probably doesn’t help, either. Wolfcastle
If nothing changes in the rules, upper midtable and occasionally better is our lot in life. Apparently having clubs most of us detest being more competitive with City is worth that Edited October 19, 2024 by Wolfcastle
nufc4eva
I think we should try Tonali and Bruno as a 2 with someone just ahead but not sure who, maybe Joe
High Five o
Let down by pathetic finishing again. Just no plan and drive when we go forward. Always cutting back .
andycap
He's quite happy to watch isak and gordon squander chances and possession all game rather than change it up and swap like for like. He'd rather take hall off another creative player off for a striker when tino could of come off.

I can't see us challenging for top 4 tbh, teams have sussed out how to play against us and we don't have a plan B. We really struggle against a low block/counter attacking setup, we have done for ages now. Add that to the fact we are naff away from home and we'll drop too many points IMO. I hate to roll out stats as they obviously don't tell the full story, but for all our possession, Brighton had as many "big chances" as we did today despite barely touching the ball for 45 minutes. That's not really good enough and is symptomatic of a serious lack of creativity.
Heron
Missed sitters and Tinos weak as piss challenge cost us.

Jonas
The truly disheartening thing is I don't think we can even blame anybody for the window. We weren't allowed to spend the money we have and in fact had to sell under the current rules
Karjala
Possibly the best performance of the season, Isak and Gordon's inability to finish the difference.
Kid Icarus
Genuinely don't think it's any more complicated than analysing why our players can't finish at the moment. 0 goals from a combined xG of ~4 in the last 2 matches is bizarre when you know the quality our players have. pedro111
Hall was fantastic for the most part I thought. Sure the ball was out when he slipped for that chance near the end.

Hall and Tino have shown glimpses and could develop into top players but for the money we could have bought two established full backs from Ligue 1/Serie A/Bundesliga etc. Barnes signing never makes sense to me, yeah he’s got a hammer of a right foot but he doesn’t do enough for me. Controversial perhaps……
Gallowgate Toon
For large periods, today wasn't really 4-3-3 either. It was basically 4-4-2 with Joelinton LM and Gordon playing like a LF.
Holloway
people intimating that we'll struggle for top ten on that performance is baffling like, ok we looked a bit desperate late on but that game was about missed chances
JEToon
Gordon is a concern now England have broke him or he’s not entirely invested as he was. geordie_b
Was anything made in the comms about the blatant pen for handball in 2nd half? Their defender drops in to take a goal kick as keeper was time wasting. He takes it to another defender short of penalty spot who picks it up respots it and takes kick again. Very similar to Arsenal in CL last year which was widely accepted as being an infringement
LiquidAK
It's getting to the point where Gordon 1 on 1 I just don't think he's going to score. No idea what's happened to him since last season, no idea if the stats back it up but he felt more clinical
