Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle United (27/10/24)

People will get on Isak, but I wouldn't pass to Longstaff there either after seeing Longstaff's other contributions.

Tend to agree with CF that it wasn't too bad an away performance. Something to cheer about for the goal, and some good play in places.

Too many avoidable mistakes, which feels like a more permanent feature of this side now, having been this way for so long.

Time waits for no man. Probably time to blow it up this summer.

We actually played alright in the end and could have easily drawn this and with a bit more luck even maybe cheekily got three points.

I watch games like this and all I can think of is how much better we'd be with just anything half decent going down our right side to give us more of a balanced threat, so we can ask more questions of teams.

Too bad. We just haven't been good enough with our recruitment.

Trying to take a step away, we’ve over achieved so far and FFP has us tied up in knots. Our squad isn’t deep enough and we have players in our best 11 who really shouldn’t be there.

It’s hard to accept but there we are.

We need someone to play in the massive gap we have between midfield and defence. The amount of times our fullbacks run into dead ends and lose the ball is hugely frustrating, it's like we fear the middle of the pitch.

Again, could have had a point if Isak had squared it or shot, or his header goes in but all in all another poor performance.

Something needs to change as this is not getting any better by the looks of it.

Howe has had a couple of years to solve that problem and hasn’t. That’s more concerning than today’s performance.

We played alright cos Chelsea and the crowd got anxious.

So fucking sick of limp dick performances at Stamford Bridge. They begged us to come at us and still we couldn't force the issue. Identical to the two games there last season.

Incredibly frustrating.

No way are Chelsea a top 4 side

They'll finish top 4 for the same reason they did last season. They've just got too many good players compared to the rest.

didn't believe we'd score at any point in that second half.

Isak dinked cross? Or Isak around the keeper? Or the header James had to put over his own bar?

I don't know. Don't fundamentally disagree with you that it feels very unpolished. Just trying to get what joy I can from it all [emoji38] In my heart I don't really believe in this regime being the one to breakthrough

Isak not squaring it to Big Joe was poor, but the loss of possession on their winner was just as bad.

He's been really poor (not the only one) this season. He's arguably cost us four points in the last two games

Got to say starting to lose a bit of faith in Howe. The players seem to be regressing, today the game plan was atrocious as was the 2nd half restart. What game can we say this season the tactics have worked ? Plan A isn't working and we have no Plan B . Yes we've been restricted by psr in terms of personnel but we seem utterly welded to this 4-3-3 that you can drive a wagon train through the middle of . He's like an A.I. with his subs and it's always like for like. Also set pieces are atrocious. Then you take into account the away form is the shits. Really like Eddie and want this to work but he needs to improve and fast.

I've been forgiving on account of us underperforming xG but when we're doing it every fucking game you start losing faith in our ability to score.

Tonali is a bit of an enigma for me, want to love him and he seems capable of doing it all but still feels like he might be causing more problems than he's solving

He’s a 2 in a 4231 - a hugely talented player - Eddie hasn’t got a freakin clue what to do with him - says more about Eddie than Tonali

Fuck off back to Sheffield Osula if you think laughing and smiling with Palmer trying to get his shirt is acceptable straight after a defeat

Must be difficult to feel attached to wins or losses when you play 90 seconds a game if you're lucky.

A week to prepare, and yet our intensity is still so many levels below 22-23. It’s like the players have switched off listening to Howe, so that extra 5% that elevated us has gone. Mixed in with a poor coaching set up, it’s making even the good players look average.
