2 mistakes from Schar, and also 2 mental moments from Isak. Get rid of any one of those and it's a draw.

I completely agree with this in one way, but in another way it feels like very similar commentary has been applicable for the last 10 games in a row [emoji38] (Emphasis on "feels" before a smartarse says owt)

Decent performance away against a decent team, got done by individual errors and Palmer. We easily could’ve got something out of that. Only Man City can go there and be in complete control all match.

Feel bad for Howe, backlash is unwarranted after that performance. He was once again let down by his players.

I also think we were crap today btw, way too lose in possession, slow in transition, with nowhere near enough runners. We have a low block CB+DM, 2 high press 8's, high press wide men and a sometimes high press 9.

We're stuck between systems, and it shows. We either need to go 4-2-3-1 or change the personal to suit 1 way of playing. Some hard decisions to be made

Good in spells, sloppy in others, punished but could and maybe should have had a point. Thought the ref was absolutely shocking and the Bruno non-decision set the tone (particularly as they scored not long after) for the afternoon.

Pope: 5.5

Livramento: 5

Schär: 4.5

Burn: 7

Hall: 6.5

Bruno: 7

Tonali: 6

Joelinton: 6.5

Barnes: 5

Isak: 6

Almiron: 5.5

 positives

we didn't get a drubbing as I feared we might at the start

a narrow defeat doesn't feel nearly as bad (for me at least)

good goal from open play

we didn't crumble after their goals and on another day might have got something, at one of the most difficult away grounds tbf

we get to have another go at these on Wednesday, and we're at home

other results good ( imagine the meltdowns on MU/Spurs forums)

negatives

another defeat

poor away form continues

some poor performances and sloppy play all over

fucking Chelsea win again

very little on the bench to make a difference

Gordon injured

Im going to need Eddie to realize Dan burn can’t head a ball

fine when defending as just needs to clear it.

he's shit when having to direct them.

think he mentioned when he fist signed that he needed to improve his attacking headers and get more goals.

he's failed.

Yep. Because of his height, all he has to do is get his head on the ball to defend the box. But the loopy headers are useless at set pieces.

Standard sloppy game and influid performance at Chelsea that usually results in a draw or narrow loss no matter who the manager is.

Hating this season though, feels interminable, only October?! Feels like March. Just feels like its going to be one of those middling ones that seemed common place pre Ashley.

Tonali made just 13 passes in his 68 minutes today. It’s bizarre that he’s barely involved in our play.

The lad never wanted to be here from the off. Throw in his year not playing football, I think he just wants this all to end and go back home. Really don't think we'll ever see the Tonali that plays well for his country. Shame for us but cutting our losses might not be the worst thing.

nah, don’t think it’s got anything to do with that. He’s constantly running around and trying.

It’s a system issue. We’re making him do the same stuff that we make Sean Longstaff do instead of taking advantage of his increased ability on the ball to try and control games.

Must be difficult to feel attached to wins or losses when you play 90 seconds a game if you're lucky.

Still should not be messing about after ANY defeat.

This is probably the closer scores.  Disagree with Pope.  Yes his kicking is not good but still he pulled off two or three super saves.

If you can’t kick you have to save that second goal. Think he tried to steal to the backpost but Palmer is good enough to notice that and made him pay.

It was more the Palmer goal I had a problem with tbh, likewise Schär being nowhere near close enough to block the shot .

Think Hall was one of the better players and seems to be getting more confident with each game. Shame about the middle of the defence.

He looked like he was relishing it which bodes well for the future.
