Superior Acuña Posted Monday at 22:35 Share Posted Monday at 22:35 (edited) Bit disappointed with the atmosphere too, even given my realistic expectations. I naively felt like with a night game and good feeling going in we'd be up for it, but felt flat before even kicked off. Obviously going down early's going to be a hit. But at 0-1 in first half I'd shout come on for an attack or corner whatever expecting to be part of a crowd surge and there'd just be a smattering across the stadium. Reminiscent of the Ashley days in the last 10. Early leavers, half empty ground, half arsed singing in the freezing cold and losing to an average-decent team after a tragic second half. How I've missed it. (I haven't) Edited Monday at 22:37 by HaydnNUFC
Sima Posted Monday at 22:38 Share Posted Monday at 22:38 (edited) It’s weird how a load of people just fuck off downstairs when there is a significant break in play. 21 minutes tonight. It’s like half the ground have got ADHD. Edited Monday at 22:39 by Sima
Dr Venkman Posted Monday at 22:39 Share Posted Monday at 22:39 We could have been 2-1 up at HT with a bit of luck and some better finishing. Thought we did enough to at least be level but it just wouldn’t drop for us. First 5 mins of the second half were promising. Both goals were piss poor on our part, just lack of fundamentals, really disappointing. The less said about the final half an hour, the better, it was desperate. Absolutely no idea what the plan was, and I don’t think the players knew either.

Yeah, if he's set properly then he probably kicks it away with his right peg or just falls on it. If any one of 4 players before that does their job properly he doesn't have a save to make. We tend to really up it for the bigger sides and then play like a bunch of limp dicks against the rest of the league when we're favourites. Same. Genuinely wouldn’t surprise me if we lost on Saturday and beat Liverpool after a great performance.

Absolutely no idea what the plan was, and I don’t think the players knew either. How many times can we say this though? I mean I still think it's true hahaha. Poor finishing has costs us for nearly two years. Definitely the most frustrating game. First half we were the better team and should have been winning. Second half we had more chances but gave up a little. I'm going to have nightmares about the amount of time we turned and passed back to the defence. Just one of those days but another missed chance to get closer to where we want to be, instead looking like a team closer to missing out on Europe again. duo Posted Monday at 22:59 Share Posted Monday at 22:59 After the 1st goal we just lost our way. Could have played another 3hrs and we wouldn't have scored. Thought we missed Burn, Lewis kept heading the ball away giving possession to West Ham when he had time to take a touch.

Tells me he needs more reliable players and with that time. Then the Elephant in the room, Tonali sitting on the bench all the while Longstaff gets tackled and falls flat on his face for the 1000 time, all while look to the ref for a foul. So fuck knows, but this squad is so unbalanced. Maybe Isak or Bruno need to be sold. I was joking But it's just a frustrating performance after a decent turn around. Sort of makes Arsenal win redundant losing to West Ham.
Mazzy Posted Monday at 23:04 Share Posted Monday at 23:04 That's worse than the Fulham and Brighton loses for sure. All the good will, confidence and momentum form before the international break has been erased.

It doesn't absolve anyone of an isolated poor performance, but the bigger picture is that this season looks every bit like the institutional anti-competitiveness finally striking. We were still riding a post-takeover wave even last season; this summer we were always going to need a boost, but it wasn't forthcoming. Criticise the Guehi chase if you like but there's no way we only sign Kelly/Osula if PSR isn't so stringent. I agree but West Ham have been shocking this season and yet we didn't have a shot on target. The players on that pitch were good enough to win this game. But we could barely string a few passes together. It was crying out for more balls over their back line- much like for Isaks off side goal but it just never came. Danh1 Posted Monday at 23:08 Share Posted Monday at 23:08 That second half was a disgrace. First half we were unlucky, some nice stuff played at times Game could still be going on and we wouldn’t have scored. Jacob Murphy being a progressional footballer is astounding, let alone part of the “leadership group” (which seems to have more members than this forum at this point)

And in case were being pedantic they've spent £133m more than us this year and about £150m net more than us this year. It entitles them to competitiveness I'd say. As per the point. When we spent more we finished ahead of them and thrashed them. Now that's not that case that's not the case.
