Newcastle United 3-3 Liverpool - 4/12/24

Isak’s goal had so much power on it that everyone is talking about that aspect, however the ability to take it round the wrong side of the defender, and away from goal, then smash it in is just unbelievable. Even without the power, the fact that he’s done that means that he is going to place it where the keeper likely cannot get it.

It’s unexpectedly quick the change in direction too, Vvd nearly ended up on his head like Van de ven.

Hardest test now on Saturday. Away to Brentford who are silly strong at home this season.

Don’t know how, because they’re proper shit away so that has to catch up with home form soon.

Villa / Leicester home, with Brentford and Ipswich away. If we are to have ambitions of Europe, then it’s 12 points minimum and a League Cup SF to come. Because Man Utd / Spurs away after are hard games against sides we need to finish above, so can’t afford any more silly dropped points.

Couldn't believe how hard he hit it. It looked like he was almost directly over the ball and generating that sort of power shouldn't have been possible. I don't think he was actually was, he's just a really deceptive player

Didn't appreciate what a howitzer the goal was until I saw it back as I was about two-thirds back in the Leaves where some thought Kelleher should have got to it

Gordon's first big chance, Murphy Hit the post, Murphy 1 on 1, Isak's marginal offside and probable penalty are big chances that quickly come to mind for us too. Not to mention I think VVD was "lucky" not receive punishment for his deliberate and cynical foul on Gordon.

We played very well against them man. I even posted how margins were finer than I thought when you compare stats and xG. It's hilarious 3 or 4 people have jumped all over the "little unlucky" despite my post being complimentary about us too  - I wasnt saying we werent either or didn't deserve a draw. You would have thought I'd only said one thing way people have ignored virtually everything else I said about the game.

It bobbled right before he hit it aswell so impeccable skill to keep it so low and accurate!

Anything been called out in the papers about the ref and his inability to allow a break away final attack?

I was foaming about that, couldn't believe he would stop the game there with such a promising attack well underway.

Still, a great game with some super goals and the obligatory 'ups and downs'.

If 12 is the minimum from 4 games what is the realistic maximum?

Can’t be arsed to go through the games where he’s not been on the bench, but any correlation to us playing well/with intensity with trippier out the picture?

 No

Great performance last night, just a shame every error seems to be punished at the moment. Salah unplayable the second half, but we really should have been out of sight at HT.

Tonali and Isak our standout players. Tonali should be the deeper lying CM IMO, his athleticism really helps us when he's in a slightly deeper role. Isak also much much better when he comes deep into a 10 position to link up play.

Special shout out to co-comms last night. Not usually bothered about commentary but the constant fawning over Liverpool was never ending. You'd have thought we'd been playing prime Barcelona. They're an undoubtedly a briiliant team but the constant adjulation is annoying.

Has there been any media discussion around the decision to end the game in the middle of our counter? They didn't discuss it at all post game in the Norwegian studio. Just wondering if its only us that are raging about it, perhaps wrongly, since nobody else seems to talk about it

Liverpool make that break he plays it to a conclusion without doubt.

That's my feeling too. Only thing I can think of is that the ref might have been thinking it was us that took so long to take the free kick prior, so it was not fair to extend the OT on our behalf....?

Gordon's chance in the first half and Murphy's in the second are the sort of chances top players put in.

Not really surprised with Murphy, he shouldn't be starting games for a team with ambitions to be at the top, but Gordon needs to do better if he thinks he's up there with the best.

That Isak potential penalty would have had the commentators raging if it was Salah at the other end, and no doubt Var would have had a long look and gave it.

Really enjoyable game, played well, and thundercunt of a strike from isak.

Just a shame about the ref, the penalty claim, vvd on Gordon are one thing, but the ref blowing full time when he did was fucking disgusting.

Refs always play until a natural break in play.. not last night.... we all know if it's salah clean through then the ref plays on.

I was at match so can only imagine how the commentators and pundits quickly brushed over and dismissed vvd, penalty claim and ref blowing whistle.

Add that to the stonewall penalty we were denied by a shit, blind ref and corrupt VAR team! We should've had the 3 points.
Ref's call my arse!
