A mid-table finish this season won't be acceptable to the owners. It all seems to have gone stale. Pressure is on him and the side to deliver in the cups now. If we’re out of both cups by the end of January then the pressure will start to build I think. We can’t keep playing like this - not helped by what felt like a really odd team selection. Oregon_Geordie
Came out of Wednesday with momentum, drop two of the thee better performers and loose all momentum. Love Howe, but well and truly messed it up today. We're generally, all over the place and seem quite complacent when we are making mistakes over and over again. Kid Icarus
Too familiar a story, very similar to West Ham. Tons of chances for us from the outset Goals conceded against the run of play We're on top and it only seems like it's going one way They score a goal that puts a pin in us and they gain confidence We make subs that make things so much worse We completely fall apart at even a basic level That's a truly shocking 2nd half like, really bad. They're nothing to write home about but they played us like a fiddle and we played ourselves. I can't keep looking at opposition teams create little, take their chances and think of it as just being against the run of play, it's a game plan and it works very well against us. Pope: 6 Livramento: 5 Schär: 4.5 Burn: 6 Hall: 6 Trippier: 4 Bruno: 5 Longstaff: 6 Tonali: 4 Joelinton: 5 Barnes: 6 Almiron: 3 Isak: 6.5 Murphy: 6.5 Gordon:
Beren
Looks like I managed to watch the only spell of the game where we were good. Did catch their third goal mind you. Set piece weakness again. Lots of fixable things which haven't fixed for ages. Frustrating year.

Two wingers that can only play the same position and neither to a top 4 level on a consistent basis. We’ve got Bruno, Isak and probably Botman that’s really top level and the others either have potential or aren’t there and never will be. Not saying Howe is exempt from blame again but we can beat anyone on our day. Some of those players need to question why they need the big games to show up. Interesting you mention Chelsea who are now flying with the right manager.

We should have started like we did at Liverpool and looked to make early subs if they were struggling, as we don't play again now until next Saturday. Never think we'll get a result with that right side combination we started with. Today is a complete disaster. The number of points we've thrown away this season with poor team selections has been extraordinary. We played well first half it was the second half that we were dog shit

Barnes, Tonali (missing for a season), Livramento and Hall (plus a few frees)? We’ve massively stagnated in the playing staff, and it’s showing badly. We need 2-3 high quality Isak level signings… fresh faces. Genuinely don’t believe Howe is the issue (to warrant changing manager) when Isak dallies on an open goal (again), three of the four goals are absolute gifts from dogshit passes / bad defending. The number of points we've thrown away this season with poor team selections has been extraordinary. I said it in the pre match thread, but if the decision was purely based on rotation and not injuries, then for me it sends entirely the wrong message over which game was the priority. Games like this need to be the priority for the manager and the players, 3 points against (and taken from) Brentford is far more valuable than 1 point against Liverpool. With that said, it's hard to see the performances against the big 6 as anything other than shop window performances at this point.
Sibierski
The goals will come, but it's the defensive side that's the issue. Can't keep conceding goals like we are, being open as we are, being as shit as a defensive unit as we are. Can score 4 away, and still not win. Proper Bournemouth under Howe stuff this, where it's great fun if you are aiming for 10-17 as a side, but we're not.

Aiston
The players gave up and Howe just couldn't motivate them or change the system. Almiron was shit and will get a lot of flack for it...yet no fucker was given him or Trippier any help at all in those last 10 minutes...no options at all for them to get rid of the ball other than themselves. christ
Our own worst enemies at the moment. Brainless fucking defending. Second and third goals in particular were basic mistakes that shouldn’t happen at this level. For all the teeth gnashing about the starting lineup we looked good for large parts before the subs. Then we looked a disjointed mess when the cavalry came on.

nufc4eva
Howe needs to change how we play, formation or something. It's terrible to watch and every other team just look quicker and have more space. Movement is pretty terrible and we just keep given the ball away. If he gets a chance in Jan he needs to bin some of them, maybe even sell one of the bigger players and get some more technical nous in there as we can barely kick a ball. Stirling Mag
First half, you could argue we were unfortunate. More and better chances. Second half though, shocking. As per previous games, Howe has a great skill of making changes when we are behind that make us worse. Edited December 7 by Stirling Mag
