Newcastle United 4-0 Leicester City (14/12/24)

Murphy could have had 5 based on MOTD.

And I'm glad he scored it and he took it well but I couldn't help but wonder why we'd have that fancy set piece routine and put Murphy on the end of it [emoji38]

I think it’s because it looks like he’s hanging back to cover the counter attack with his pace.

Fair point though

"Lads, they've left Murphy free on the edge of the area, do we need to both man-marking him? Nah? Agreed, he's no danger - did you see that shot he just attempted?"

It was good to see Gordon and Hall combining so well. In previous games, I'd seen Hall making a number of good runs that Gordon had ignored, preferring to try and create something by himself.

I think there's been some work done on the training ground, which bore fruit yesterday.

Yeah I thought they were noticeably combining better together. It's going to mature fast, just feels like they have many more gears to go through together.

If they really develop an understanding they could be playing together for club and country for the next decade.

One of my mate's has a box and, on tuesday, asked if me and Mrs G wanted to join them for yesterday's game. Had to decline as we were hosting a small gathering of Groundhogs and extended family to celebrate Groundhog Jnr's 30th yesterday afternoon.

Need to post this in the "Parenting Stuff" thread cos those sacrifices, we parents make, keep coming [emoji38]

Watched the second half on the Bigscreen app on the Meta Quest 3. Lobby full of radgies from South Shields and Benwell. Someone was being a dick and was standing in front of my seat so i went full on Dead Man Shoes at him. He was promptly kicked from the room by said radgie from South Shields who doesn't have any legs apparently [emoji38]

It was a lot of fun no idea why i've never thought of looking for a stream on there before. Great app :smitten:

Gordon's usually pretty bad at linking with teammates. He doesn't really have any good relationships with anyone. Glad he's starting to develop one with Hall.

This is why we need a better quality player on the right, against a stronger side those wasted chances would be costly.

100%

We also need a two footer, many of Murphy’s wasted chances were left footed attempts

hes as useless with his left as Miggy is with his right

Nah. He is far from great with his left. But the fact he actually uses it now and then means he’s better than Almiron on his weaker foot. Got an assist with his cross-cum-shot last week with his swinger.

Like their first half keeper - Hermanson is it? Could be a Pope replacement

Wiki has him as 6”2”, gotta be bullshit, he looked well under 6” from where I was. Me and my mate both commented on how small he was.
