You’re almost always going to play someone good. Forest away is less kind than it seemed then but Wimbledon (plus a natural disaster to make it a home game), two home games, Bromley, and Birmingham. Hard to complain.

toontownman Posted Sunday at 19:18 Share Posted Sunday at 19:18 Certainly could have had a worse draw here. Still fear of the absolute humbling they gave us in the cup years ago remain lol. Hopefully we will have the squad fit and focused enough to ease through this time.

AyeDubbleYoo Posted Sunday at 20:06 Share Posted Sunday at 20:06 Hard draw I think, didn’t realise they were top of the league. Probably need to put out the full first team to be confident.

Birmingham is suffering with a lot of car cannibalism at the moment, with away fans being targeted at Birmingham City matches.
Donut Posted Sunday at 20:26 Share Posted Sunday at 20:26 We need to field a much stronger side than today against these... too many cloggers who shouldn't be here anymore.

I went in the championship when we drew 0-0. Actually thought the Brum fans were ok. Friendly enough to talk to on the platform of that station near the ground. Brother in law used to knock about with all the hooligans back in the day. Once he's had a drink he tends to tell the same stories about away days and always says Birmingham for a midweek game was the scariest he ever encountered. Different days thankfully but no doubt it'll be a big day for some of their wrong'uns.
ChrisJbarnes Posted Sunday at 20:55 Share Posted Sunday at 20:55 I went to uni in Birmingham and attended Bhm v Villa for a midweek game in the winter once. I think it was 2010. Birmingham won in the league cup. Absolutely bleak and it all kicked off in the stand with the away fans, plenty of hooligans in the run down area around the ground. Its about the only game Ive been to where it genuinely felt like what I imagine football in the 1980s was like.
David Edgar Posted Sunday at 20:57 Share Posted Sunday at 20:57 Wonder how easy it will be to get tickets in the home end, as someone who lives relatively nearby.
Paullow Posted Sunday at 21:00 Share Posted Sunday at 21:00 This will be a harder match than against a lot of bottom half Championship teams. A team from a big city, relatively big ground, that has been in the Premier League fairly recently and enjoying a good season, and likely some sort of feel good factor there. Probably some similarities to Sheff Wed the other year, but Birmingham's future does look brighter and they did pay £15-20m for their top scorer Jay Stansfield. I think it will need to be a lot stronger than today's team. Obviously we don't know why will be sold, if there's anyone new in, who's injured / suspended etc. but, assuming most are available, something like this: Trippier, 2 from Burn, Botman, Schaar (the one who has played less games by the time of the fixture), Hall Miley, Willock (if fit) 1 from JoeL, Tonali, Bruno Murphy Osula, Barnes - Isak on the bench

Jonas Posted Sunday at 21:19 Share Posted Sunday at 21:19 Chance we get the full end given their gates but last I seen of them they were tauping sections off and think the main stand was/is partially closed.

Reading their forum they seem to think it will sell out and we’ll get the minimum 15%, which probably equates to about three-quarters of that stand. Whether it’s feasible, segregation-wise to sell the rest of the stand to home fans, I’m not sure? Guess if it’s not we could get the whole stand, rather than leave that bit empty. Either way, shouldn’t be any less than about 4k.
Jilted Generator Posted Sunday at 21:30 Share Posted Sunday at 21:30 (edited) Remember going to St Andrews way back in the 05/06 season. 0-0 borefest, one of the worst games I’ve ever been to. Fuckface Owen made his return from a bad injury and the blue noses were relegated to the Championship. We had a renaissance of sorts under Roeder towards the end of the season and finished with a European place. 54 Posted Sunday at 21:37 Share Posted Sunday at 21:37 My memory is quite hazy, as I was young, but wasn't it Birmingham where we went 3-0 down after 10 or so minutes in the early 00's? Edit: Thinking about it, it may have been Portsmouth.

Aye. Winning 1-0 away and they equalised late on to take it to a replay. Got back to SJP and Bruce pumped us 1-5.
