Shouldn’t Bournemouth be sort of similarly fatigued? They looked extremely fresh today though.

We've had two extra games over the last month in the League Cup, and they had an extra 24 hours rest given they played on Tuesday and us Wednesday.

Alright, cheers 👍 Wasn’t sure about their schedule lately.

Fair play to them if they weren't. Shows how outrageously competitive the league is. Point us if we were tired, there's chance for us to recover now.

Did they rotate in the cup like we did?

The most annoying thing about that result was that the Newcastle hoodie I got for Christmas, that had seen in 6 wins, has lost its winning "juice", so now it will go into the pile of shame for its superstitious mystical powers have come to an end.

Same with my Bruno and Joelinton socks. Sad times indeed.

They've got a ridiculous injury list and they still made changes to their lineup.

It's our fault our players are fatigued by not rotating more.

Not to make excuses but the 12:30 after a Weds evening is pretty shit tbf.

Mental fatigue will be pretty high as well tbh, that arsenal cup game in particular.

This is the main reason why winning and winning and winning becomes harder and harder imo. Keeping your mentality absolutely A1 is so hard, whether it's complacency or a different pressure through the expectation to win.

Bournemouth have 11 senior players fit and played the same number of games this week as us. Think we were just totally fucking awful.

They've also had 2 away games and we've had 2 home games.

Aye sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and acknowledge you were outplayed and out coached for 90 minutes. Very impressed by them, whilst we had a very off day.

It happens. Just need to make sure it doesn’t become a dip.

Maybe Yorkie is right and it's more mental fatigue / believing a bit of our own hype. Let's hope we get our focus back next game.

It's probably both tbh, there was hardly any pressing by us for like 40 mins.

We lost literally every 2nd ball and 50/50.

Personally think that fatigue is not the reason for us getting a hiding, we've struggled against other teams who press us relentlessly. It's generally the same players who get flustered when surrounded, and tbf only the best players can usually cope with it.

Surely it’s nothing like the situation we were in back then.

Didn't mean it like that, just hoping he gees them all up quickly. A hard run of games after Southampton, not to mention the semi final.

Aye, against a similar side who want to run you off the park the extra rest is massive. Even a later kick-off would help.

Not to take anything away from them like, even fully fit we'd struggle against their press.

I’m quite surprised to be logging on to see so many people saying we were totally outplayed TBH.

I think Bournemouth did a good job to hassle and contain us, but neither team really played any good football. Then we gave the match to them with two critical mistakes.

Depends what you mean by outplayed I suppose. They contained us and ended up winning, so fair play. But without two critical errors it probably finishes 1-1.

Bournemouth played some decent football but they had ten times more aggression. 18 fouls to 7. Yes their fouling was annoying but the ref was consistent to be fair. He made it clear early on that anything goes and they made it clear they wanted a physical game. We have to be able to stand up to that. Bruno, as captain, has to stand up for himself and set the tone for the team. How many times was he fouled? Might have been double figures. If the ref isn't giving cards out then as the leader you have to react.

Teams are going to see this and really go in hard on us now. Few refs will let as much go as today but we have to be ready for this kind of game.

How would you like him to react?

Similar to how we turned up and pumped Forest. We need to do the same, take it on the chin and move on.

Nothing but respect for Bournemouth though that’s arguably the best coached side I’ve seen this season. Aye we were shit but they caused that.

I’d like to think that gives a nudge to the higher ups that it’s January and we could use a transfer boost.
