Howay man, you can't possibly be serious. There's millions of billions of posts on here from people who were confused about what the process involved and their likelihood of getting a ticket

They're not confused about the process, they're confused about their likelihood of being successful in the ballot. The process was crystal clear.

Short of the club knowing the exact number of fans wanting tickets I'm not sure how they could have told us what our chance % was. It's not as if they asked everyone in Pot 1, 2, 3 if they were going to attempt to purchase a ticket.

Why is this an issue for us and not for the likes Liverpool, do you think? Do we have a bigger problem with touting? Genuine question.

The lack of frequency we visit Wembley/In a final so our fans more triggered.

Liverpool already a step or two ahead of embracing a broader fanbase and giving less of a fcuk about it. Whilst out club will be milking the STH’s heavily until they increase attendances in whichever way they decide so more mindful to keep the bulk of longstanding fans happy when they can.

I take it your brother is giving you his ticket?

I mistyped there. I meant to say I also jacked in my s-t when Ashley binned off Rafa.

Also binned off mine after Benitez left but cost and logistics were the killers. My ticket went from being ~£230 to £811 in the space of one season plus I was moving to Derby for uni in September 2019 and was on the minimum maintenance loan; just could not afford it even if Benitez had stayed. Was able to get to a lot more games post COVID as my loan was significantly higher in third year. Think I only missed 4 home games and got to 1 away in 2021-22.

Tried to get one of the 1000 new STs in summer 2022 but was nowhere near as savvy with the site then as I am now. Still think about it.

I reckon there's a decent chunk of season tickets who either didn't have one previously or, as in my case, had given them up under Ashley and then nipped back in at the beginning of the takeover season. A mixture of Covid restrictions lifting, so just being glad to have an excuse to get out again, and rolling the dice with all the talk of the takeover. Very much how it played out for me and my old man, he'd had ST since before I was born, I'd been going since Robson's last season. Both got binned off a while back under Ashley, but thought we'd take a 1 season gamble in the hopes the takeover went through.

As gamble’s go…😮‍💨

They couldn't have told people what the % chance of success was, that's impossible. And that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about overall transparency, clarity of communication and simplicity of process.

Go back to posts at the end of the Pot 3 allocation and see how many people were confused about whether there'd be any tickets left for the next Pots

Go back to posts when the allocation criteria were announced and see how many people were confused about whether a forwarded ticket counted as attending a match

Go back to posts from people who'd followed the clubs directive to forward tickets on and have lost out versus people who "broke the rules" and just forwarded an email

And that's just off the top of my head.

There's been a lack of transparency and clarity all the way through for the vast majority who wanted to try and get a ticket, and that's for both ST's and members.

Wanker!

wanker indeed.

wasnt having a personal dig at him.

just stating that a lot of us thought long and hard about giving ours up for the same reason. but in the end we couldnt. doesnt make us better or worse supporters than each other, or more or less worthy of cup final tickets.

Is he fuck  wouldn't expect him to.  I'm long past being angry about this and had accepted I wouldn't get a ticket.

The point I was angry was when the criteria was announced and going to almost all games this season and last (inc all cup games) meant nowt.

FWIW I didn’t think you were having a dig at me, so I wasn’t offended

Some stayed, some left, we all had our reasons and the merits of either decision are still too emotive to discuss for a lot of people without it turning into a scrap

I sometimes go back and read the old NUFC.com match waffle from the latter years of the Ashley era though, a brutal reminder of why people jacked and how utterly grim it was for the ones who stayed

Bizarrely it helps me keep my pecker up when we’re in a bit of a blip

Well, likewise, why should buying a ticket for a home game qualify the buyer for anything other than access to that home game?

So when it comes to cup tickets, why can’t eligibility be based purely on how many cup matches you attended, whether you’re a STH or a member?

i should have worded it differently.

got involved with sackpardew and ashleyout.

really thought long and hard about giving up our ST's after Rafa left. was a very emotive conversation.

decided not to renew, then bottled it 2 days before the renewal.

just dont judge us.

thats how it should be but club wants to sell more memberships and also wants all ST holders to sign up for cup schemes.

to them its about ££££.

Much easier when we got knocked out in the first games..

Going back to season tickets I've always seen this as some part a Geordie Tax. No matter what was going on I had to pay.

The closest I actually come to throwing it in was under Souness / Roeder just for the lost hope from the recent highs.

Surely you gotta hold the same criteria amongst the family you expect of the club [emoji38]

Hopefully they can focus on tightening up memberships (and STHs) so minimal abuse.

As I’ve said before I’d expect the criteria to change again if a next time as you might never have a home draw until Semi or at all in FA Cup. Will always be subject to route.
