[League Cup Final] Newcastle United Vs. Liverpool - 16/03/25 @ 16:30 (Live on ITV & Sky)

Liverpool looked very leggy at the end yesterday, especially their midfield and defence. If we play with high intensity, it’s our best bet to beat them. We’ve been given a chance to play our style of game, confident Eddie will take it.

I mean I think Bruno has said "I want to be in the clubbystory" in every interview since he arrived. You know he believes it, at least.

"clubbystory" :lol: :lol:

If we get beat down to the difference in quality I can live with that. I just want us to play with maximum effort and bravery
Want the players coming off the pitch thinking they couldn’t have done anything more, flair, passion, smarts, intensity, game management. That’s the thing, don’t want to feel like last time.

Be their best selves and let kismet takes care of the rest.

If the players believe this time, that’ll be the main difference. Felt like they didn’t really last time.

I felt like last time getting to the final for many was a win after it being so long since our last one.

Just nothing controversial or a howler for someone.

Be shocked if TAA isn't out for a while. Physio made the call to sub very quick. Ankle ligaments be my guess. Bradley injured as well evens up that side. Diaz gave Hakimi a tough time of it so I'd be fearful of what he'd do to Trippier on the other side. Jota, Nunez are shot of confidence and Gakpo been struggling with injury of late. The performance against City really sapped my confidence for this one but there's just enough of doubt to keep me plugged in.

Thought Trent coming on for them changed the game at SJP, if he’s out that’s a massive boost. Suspect defensively but his progressive passing is world class.

Connor Bradley out too isn’t he?

I think that’s the bigger aspect to Trent being crocked

I watched the game with a few Liverpool fans last night and they thought Diaz was poor and indecisive and that he has been for a while.  I hope that is the case on Sunday.  As Trippier's not renowned for his defending.

He was definitely indecisive last night.

This is it for me too. If we lose and we’ve went out there and give it a good go, left everything out there then I will be disappointed but also proud of the efforts and mentality.

If we go out half arsed and go through the motions then I’ll be fucking raging.

Just hope Liverpool’s luck with dodgy officiating doesn’t spoil the game.

Pretty much my view too. I still think we will lose, but just leave everything on the pitch and I can live with it. Forget the occasion and just treat it as another big game. If we come away defeated, but having made them run themselves into the ground to beat us, then we can't ask for anything more.

I think it's rare a team plays it's best in a final tbh. It's about being present in big moments. Decisive in both boxes.

Last time we played well enough but lacked in both boxes when it counted.

I guess we are almost saying the same thing. A multiple time CL winner coming up big from a set piece was that little gap in quality between both teams.

Edit: I think about all Real's CL wins over the last 10-12 years. They dominated Juve for one of them. The other 4 victories, the main difference was coming up big in both boxes when it mattered. Fairly even games where Madrid's quality and composure in both boxes won it.

Hopefully the vibes swing on here -  thanks to Monday and Tuesday's results - is reflected across the wider fanbase/Sunday attendees. It's felt different throughout the whole campaign, this time, really believe we can do it.

While we have to go into the game knowing we can win, I still see us as massive underdogs. We can't use yesterday's result as a yardstick because PSG's passing and movement of the ball was a level or two above ours at present. Secondly, I am not that confident in what sort of service we'll get from the flanks. Tino and Barnes down one side gives no width, and on the other you've got an ageing Trips and Murphy. We'll need those guys to step their game up to bring the cup home.
