Liverpool are 2/5 to win it though. Would imagine man u weren't anywhere near them odds.

So you'd need to invest a canny bit for any kind of return this time round

Oh I know yeah, won't be doing that this time round.

Think I got 9/2 on Man U to lift the trophy or something along those lines.

Just feel as though it’ll be different this time. Can tell by the post match interviews last night that we aren’t just happy to be making an appearance at Wembley this time.

Howe will make sure we have an plan also. He will have been hungry on a personal level to put right the last visit there and will have us prepared tactically, see last night.

The big European aways, the previous cup final, the quarter final at Chelsea last season will all stand us in good stead of playing massive games away from SJP.

Will Liverpool be as “up for it” as we are? They’re not unbearable, we nearly done them at SJP. We owe the cunts big time as well, as I said on another thread.

Man United beat City in the FA Cup final last season. We are a much, much better side than them, and Liverpool are no better than what Man City were then.

Would much rather be playing Spurs but we have a very real chance of silverware here.

Wish I could believe that, but every single final I've ever witnessed it's looked like we are just happy to have got there, inevitably followed by a flat performance. Even last time against a relatively shit Man U we were comfortably second best, although we were missing Pope and that had an impact.

I think against any other team but Liverpool we would have a 50/50 chance tbh, but even under Howe we've generally fucked up against them quite regularly.

It's possible, I just struggle to actually envision us actually beating them over the course of the game, whether that's over 90 mins, ET or penalties.

On how Liverpool will rank as PL champions, look at their starting 11:

Allison*

Trent*

Konate

VVD*

Robertson

Slob

Gravenberch

MacAllister

Salah*

Diaz

Gakpo

When it comes down to the pantheon of great players, Liverpool have 4 in their side who are truly elite in comparison to players of yesteryear. (Don't mistake this as not rating their other players, it's just in comparison to other PL winners).

Lets take two other examples:

Cech*

Ferriera

Carvalho*

Terry*

Cole*

Lampard*

Essien*

Mikel

Robben*

Drogba*

Joe Cole

Or:

Van Der Sar.

Neville*

Ferdinand*

Vidic*

Evra

Ronaldo*

Carrick

Scholes*

Giggs*

Tevez*

Rooney*

Of course times change and in a few years we might look at Gravenberch as an all time great etc but for me this Liverpool side is more Leicester, Blackburn, Chelsea under Conte perhaps.

Put it this way, Klopps side of 2/3 year ago would have been out of sight IMO. Not a criticism, just a comparison.

Liverpool are probably the last team you want to be playing in a final. Yes they're arguably the best team in Europe, but as a club they just a knack of knowing how to win these games. They'll also likely get favourable refereeing decisions and possibly some help from VAR if needed.

I'm not confident.

You've got to put half a star at least against Van Der Sar I reckon

The strong rumours are the cup scheme will be categorised

So first dibs will go to those that have been to all 4 home plus one away

Then all 4 home

Then 3 home and 1 transferred ticket

Then 2 and 2

As I have said it’s only rumour but don’t be surprised…

Would be happy with this.  I bought tickets for all four homes.

Main reason I'm more confident this time is that I'm hoping the final isn't the occasion in itself. Last time the players were watching videos of their relatives saying how proud they were etc and all that stuff is lush but it's surely an emotional drain. I want them to go into this with less noise and pressure and to play with confidence and with all of the inexperience of the Man United final behind them.

I don't expect us to win, Liverpool have the players and prestige to have been there and done that when it comes to finals and clutch moments in high pressure situations, and we don't have that. What I do expect us to do though is compete, and I know that when we compete we have as good a chance as anyone.

Honest to God I'm more confident of beating Liverpool than Spurs

I'm not saying I think we're going to win, but I'd sooner go into the final as an underdog rather than favourites - which we would have been against Spurs. A bit defeatist to say this but losing to Liverpool would feel slightly better than losing to Spurs, no? But we absolutely can win.

We're due a win against them, there's no way their players will be as 'up for it' as ours will and I truly believe we can hurt them. At the start of December we caused them all sorts of problems, though granted I'm 99% sure we will (comfortably) lose at Anfield later this month.

I'd sooner be playing this version of Liverpool rather than the 18-22 Liverpool, which I know sounds ridiculous given their record this season. They're clearly a belter team and very efficient in what they do, led by 2 of the best players in the world in their positions. But Isak can cause Van Dijk lots of problems, as he has a couple of times. Get Gordon running at Trent all day. Make sure from minute one they know they're in a game.

2023 was a huge deal to the club - players, staff, ownership & especially fans. This is obviously a huge deal too, but this time stay focussed on the task at hand. None of this hanging outside the players hotel before the game as if we'd already won it. Get into them, play a fast game and we've got every chance. If an absolute piss-poor Man United could deservedly beat Man City in the FA Cup final last year, why not us now?

It would have been ideal to have had the equivalent of Liverpool last time and get all that stuff out of the way in a game we were always going to lose anyway, and the equivalent of Man Utd now, when we're much more locked in on the actual objective of the day. But such is life.

This Liverpool side are a great team, with good balance, and then Salah is exceptional. They are IMO much better than that Chelsea team for example, who didn’t have a payer close to Salahs level

All I can realistically ask is that for once we actually turn up in a cup final and play how we can. After that the result either way will go with destiny. If we lose, at least we can hold our head up and say we made it a game worth watching. We might even win if we just go out and play.

In terms of the gap with their own team and the teams around them I think the gap with that Chelsea team is huge. They revolutionised our league and all of the other teams had to react and get better. I don't see that with this Liverpool team at all, they strike me as a team that's filled a gap rather than created one.

I think we’ll turn up this time and put in a proper performance but I just don’t think it’ll be enough because they are just much better than us.
How does this affect European places? Liverpool are going to be in the champions league no doubt. Do we automatically get the place if we lose like it used to be or have things changed?

Plus more likely to have an unpleasant encounter with their fans than with Spurs, I reckon.

Spurs have some loons as well, but will be isolated bits of bother with the gobby arrogant scouse cunts.

I’m still unconvinced that Liverpool are all that good tbh. They have a good squad depth and I think that’s showing more than anything this season compared to other clubs who’ve all bizarrely gone with next to no depth (Arsenal and Man City have absolutely tiny squads). Chelsea are another one who are benefitting from being able to rotate regularly, and even Forest to an extent.

Think we can at least match them if we turn up at our best and everyone is fit.

I think he meant Contes Chelsea side, rather than Mourinhos.

What makes me think they are all that good, is that every week I expect them to win...then they do. Even if they are 1-0 down going into extra time they'll score two bastard goals and take all three points. They aren't going to look great every week, but they are serial winners. I don't like it, but it's just a fact.

What we can't afford to do is miss the number of chances that we have of late

It’s their attack for me, it’s almost guaranteed that one of Jota, Gakpo, Salah, Diaz or Nunez will score every single game.

they will score, no doubt.

There’s only been one league game since the 30th of November where one of Isak/Gordon/Murphy hasn’t scored as well though. I don’t think their attack is loads better than ours despite them having arguably the best player in the world at the moment.

They have Van Dijk as well who is colossal and miles better than any defender we have, but Isak gave him massive problems like I’ve not seen before in the 3-3.

We have the away game in the league to help Eddie have another go at figuring them out too.
