Ranking our Squad - 1: Dubravka

So a while ago I did a ranking our squad thread where we all ranked our players. I thought it might be a more interesting idea if we did it player by player and put in a poll so everyone can vote and we can come up with some overall rankings.

 

I'll keep this post updated with everyone's score and at the end we'll have a fully ranked squad from the brilliant minds of NO.

 

I don't think i've made a poll before so hopefully this works  

 

Grade System

 

A - World class. Could play for any team in the world.

B - One of the best in their position. Would get game time for most teams but they're a level below the elite.

C - Solid PL starter. A team consisting entirely of Cs should be comfortable in the PL but wouldn't challenge for the top places.

D - PL squad filler. Everyone needs a squad. These are the players who can help with rotation and backup but you wouldn't want them starting too often.

E - Not good enough either by virtue of general ability or being past their prime.

Probably the best of two less than ideal options I think is my straightforward analysis here.

Between a C and a D. Capable at PL level still. We’re fortunate we had him around while Pope was out injured, and he’a fully deserved a one year contract extension (providing the wages aren’t massive).

I went for a C, overall his time here has been a success, and prior to his injuries he was a really good keeper and shot stopper, and he's stepped up this season and been better than Pope quite comfortably this season imo, but he has dropped off a fair amount since them injuries, and you have the whole Man United thing.

Do you think our discussions here, on an internet forum with the purpose of discussing all things Newcastle United, will influence player performance?

 

Not meant as a condescending question in its entirety btw. I imagine people associated with the club will check here from time to time. Wouldn't be particularly helpful to some, I imagine. Reading all the negativity. But then you surely get immune to the criticism eventually?

Before a final and entering the last legs of the season i find it fucking pathetic , Dubravka has been fantastic in popes absence and that showed on sunday

There aren't that many true difference makers in the league. Could be and has been a serviceable starter.

 

I think Newcastle want a B given our aspirations though.

So a good starter for Palace, Wolves, Everton, West Ham, Brentford, etc. I think he is that. We just want more.

Easy D. Less than a year ago it was an E but he's had a great turnaround and should still be in the team imo.
