Sven Botman earns our highest grade so far with a B.

Next up we have Fabian Schar who for me is an interesting one.

Even last season I think he was low key one of the better defenders in the league. Feels like we're seeing his decline at the moment, though perhaps not to the extent of some other players.

Getting into Trippier territory again I feel, can start in the PL still but can look a bit shaky if the team around him isn't right.

Has also started giving the ball away with some mad passes recently.

There was a point not too long ago where I'd argue he was the best CB ever to play for us though, so I'm probably underrating him a bit due to our dodgy form.

I love you Fabian, you're the best £3.5m the club has ever spent. And probably the best defender of my life time at the club (not a high bar), but it's time to play second fiddle next season.

A bad run of form lately will no doubt colour this one for many, but Schar has been one of our best players consistently for 3 years now, superior to any of our other defenders by a distance. He's put together runs of consistent excellence, is one of the best ball playing centre backs in Europe and has enabled our high pressing way of playing more or as much as any single other player in our squad. He's been nothing short of brilliant.

I'll have to not visit this thread as to not lose my mind and indeed faith with the D's & E's no doubt incoming.

B+, love you Fabian.

The 'team consisting entirely of' part of C is the hard bit to agree with, not many non-elite players could meet that definition.

Schar is good and even better when the team around him is functioning, but a team consisting entirely of Schars would get relegated.

C.

A great servant who excelled under Rafa and Howe's management.

Unfortunately much like Trippier, age is catching up. While he was never rapid, he's lost a yard of pace, he's less focused and his long range passing which which was once superb is off more often than not. Even then, he'd still do a job for a side with midtable aspirations.

He'll be fondly remembered as one of our best, but the time has come to upgrade.

He's a C now. Never unhappy to see him in the squad or line up. Two years ago it's a B, probably one of the most underrated defenders in the league then and my word he can see things most can't and pass the ball with flair and accuracy. I can't think of any player who has earnt his transfer fee so easily.

Also, just love those thunderbastard goals he occasionally rocked up with when the rest of the team were dreaming and he decided to win the game on his own.

I think he was always a C+ sort of player.  But he has started to drop off a bit this season.  His passing has become more lax and loose than usual and his defending even more so.

Harsh to say he is now a D.  But trending that way.

Great thread BTW and has got plenty involved.  But it does seem like there is a bit of a no man's land between B and C.  Like B makes it sounds like they're one of the best players in the division.  Whereas C is just like they're anyone that played for a Pulis Stoke team or every Fulham player for most of their Prem history.
