[LCF] Newcastle United 2-1 Liverpool - NUFC LEAGUE CUP WINNERS

Recommended Posts

Anyone else think that the Sam Fender lyric, "I was far too scared to hit him, but I'd hit him in a heartbeat now", is a perfect metaphor for our cup win. Feels perfect somehow.

Just watching this again, really excellent video. Can you or anybody else on here tell me the music that is being played from 19:30 onwards, it really is beautiful..

That particular clip was put out by the club... I believe the audio track is "Dismantle" by Peter Sandberg. 👍

I need to get something off my chest as it's being doing my head in. Micah Richards seems to be seen as a bit of a funny guy and a character, and really it's hard to disagree with that, but I've got to argue I don't think I will ever fully fall in love with the guy. The reasons is because I've always suspected he's one of the blindsided people that use the popular narrative to define their 'expertise'.

I've heard him mock Rob Lee yet I can guarantee he never watched him play or was ever interested in his own success story as mediocre 2nd division player to England and the combative midfield general we call one of the best midfielders that ever played for us. I also heard him say recently that man city need 'investment' to claw back the premier league title, which is the answer id expect from a twelve year old.

But the thing that's irked me the most is his comments to shearer and lineker about the comparison between Newcastle and Liverpool fans last Sunday. I've got to say, I wasn't there. I went to every cup game this season and two years ago but in both circumstances like many fans, was unlucky. But from everyone I've spoke to who went, vocally (as well as on the pitch) we absolutely dominated them. Yet, Mr Richards claimed 'liverpool support was incredible and is always the best, BUT Newcastle matched them'....I'm sorry, I know we won, but I can't stand false credit. YNWA was drowned out three times, I've heard that from about a hundred fans so far that where there, and unless you were watching a faint transmission from mars the TV footage supports this tenfold.

Now one of the reasons that Mr Richards said this instead of relying on his eyes and ears is probably because pre match the 'impartial' media was seen interacting with the Liverpool camp and their 'duty' to support the septic six no matter what the reality is.

I thought our fans were simply incredible, we won the game 2-1, should have been 4-0. But our fans won that by a bigger score, it's a shame Richards is too full of his own ego and top six mentality to realise that.

One man I give huge credit to is Jamie redknapp. Not easy when your team has lost a final, but he actually was able to switch off and give praise where it's due.

Why do people think everyone wants to know their opinions of Micah Richards?

Also, Redknapp is mates with Jamie Ruben as well as pretty close to Jason and Eddie - hardly a shock he's now happy for us.

Are you referencing Micah's comments from "And the rest is football"? I heard that too and knew immediately he was full of shite.  I don't mind him and what he brings to broadcasts, as sometimes punditry is too serious, but that take was his hottest pile in the steaming shit category.
